Recorded live in concert on April 13, 1969, this collection features Tonight Show
trumpet virtuoso Carl "Doc" Severinsen dazzling the audience with his artistic
mastery, a gala performance with the Kansas University Symphonic Band
you don't want to miss. Severinsen made few albums with collegiate bands, so
this one is a special treat, the KU ensemble being one of the best in the nation.

Doc performs Carnival of Venice, Floyd Werle's challenging Concerto for Trumpet,
and the trumpet showcase La Virgen de La Macarena, three works designed
to show off the soloist's virtuosity, showpieces that bring down the house.
The KU Symphonic Band then follows with some showpieces of their own,
including Clifton Williams' rollicking Symphonic Dance No. 3, "Fiesta."
