This is the first reissue of this album that was released on the Rockadelic label in 1994. It was limited to 300 copies and numbered, this is number 238. Originals are impossible to find and also this reissue is today very hard to find. Both cover and record of this copy are Near Mint (from my own collection and played once).

Album description:

Maybe it's their proximity to all that funny-tasting cactus, but Arizona has produced more than its share of mind bending rock combos and Kennelmus might just be the wildest of the bunch. The Chantays sand-wrestling with the Electric Prunes, refereed by Captain Beefheart almost does justice to the mind-bending sound of Kennelmus.

Weird desert group with mysterious guitar psych Ennio Morricone & middle eastern instrumental's on side 1, backed with equally odd vocal folkrock/garage stuff on the flip. Play this and something strange enters the room that you'll enjoy having around after a while. Hard to describe accurately. [PL]

One of that handful of truly unique psych albums. On side one they're an all-instrumental freaked out surf band, and a fantastic one. Side two adds vocals, which are perfunctory song/speak, and thus these songs aren't as interesting. They were way ahead of their time, before the surf/skate punkers of the early '80's, and before the sing/speak avant garde '70's bands like MX-80 Sound and Debris. Cool stuff, absolutely worth owning. [AM]

From Phoenix, Arizona, Ken Walker and Bob Narloch played as a duo originally in the sixties. Kennélmus was formed in 1970 and their two albums were recorded between 1970-72 in recording engineers' Chuck Hauke's studio using two Ampex 351-2 two track recorders. Even the Rockadelic reissue of the first album is becoming hard to find. This is the better of the two. Side one of the album is instrumental and while some of the tracks are in a primitive hard rock style not unlike Hootch, others are very dense and beautiful. The vocal tracks are very quirky and strangely recorded - it's clear that Kennélmus spent a great deal of time knob-twiddling in the studio! While the results are obviously mixed, the album is recommended.
