KENNY & THE KASUALS
JOURNEY TO TYME
For collectors of Texas garage bands, Kenny & The Kasuals were one of the top groups in Dallas. Coming from the Bryan Adams area, they were quite the popular garage band in 1965 and were regulars down at the Apartment Club, and later the Studio Club, where they cut their (supposed) live album.
They cut six singles between 1965-1967 and each of them marked the bands progression towards psychedelia. This was their big breakthru, the single that put the group on the map with fans of garage rock. "Journey To Tyme" was their best ever and has them tipping fully into the wigged out sounds of 1966.
It entered the KLIF charts on October 8, 1966 and stayed there for 7 weeks, rising to #12 on the charts. It got enough attention that it was picked up for national release by Challenge Records. Though this is before the invention of the Voxx wah-wah pedal (which forever defined psych music in 1967-'68) it's still quite a blistering number with a great spat out vocal from Kenny.
This ORIGINAL 45 is flipped with "I'm Gonna Make It."
