Excellent Japanese preamp, I'm not normally a huge Kenwood fan but this mid 80's piece is very nice, with good build and components. The SQ is extremely good, very transparent and clean; with my Quad 520 power amp it sounds excellent on all inputs including phono. A good alternative to Yamaha etc pres that seem to go for silly money these days.
The only issue that these all seem to suffer from is a dodgy balance control/pot... they are tiny ALPS pots and are hard to clean/fix. Good board layout ripe for re-capping.

mid entry unit has a lot going sound better then expected

Got mine used and in bad condition two years ago. Really good device with a great phono section. Cd entry is very good too, output level a little bit low as regards today standards.
I would describe sound as neutral on whole frequencies, whith a very good dynamic. Associated with an Atoll AM 80 and Monitor Audio RX6 silver, tweaked Rotel RCD-02, Luxman PD 277 and Audio technicacAT 440 MLB does a great job! Would not change for anything else.

Very nice looking Pre with a great phono input section.
Works nice with M2 or M2a. I used it to drive Klipsch LaScala and I liked the performance and reliability. Did find upgrades on the web but never moved off of OEM design.

For the money you cant beat this pre amp . paired with m2a amp and wooooow get blown away by some nice sound and huge power!
