Description
KEVIN AYERS BANANAMOUR LP HARVEST SHVL 807 GRAMOPHONE COMPANY LTD.
A/3 - B/3 Pressing. Selling as I already have a first pressing, this came from a box sourced from someone’s loft.
Sleeve: The worst part of this is the £7 price sticker I found on it. I’ve not attempted to remove it! The sleeve looks and feels textured, but it’s nothing like the quality of embossing on my own copy! Maybe it’s because it’s been tightly stored for so long, or maybe later pressings had a slightly inferior grade sleeve. I’m happy to be educated! There’s very slight ring wear, more on the back than front, and definite storage wear to the edges. I guess a dealer would rate it at VG+.
Vinyl: Cleaned on my Okki Nokki cleaning machine, the disc has come up a treat, with a lovely deep sheen to it. There’s a couple of noticeable marks to the vinyl on Side1, and one on side two. I tried to photograph these, but they have to be held at an angle towards the light to be visible, and I couldn’t capture them. Again I’d guess at Ex-/VG+
Sound: The first 20/30 seconds of both sides have quite a heavy crackle and popping which belies the sound on the rest of the album, which is crisp, clear and deep, with only very minimal background hiss expected of a 46 year old album that has obviously been played in the past. If you can see your way past the opening few seconds you’ll hopefully be happy with the sound quality.
General: I’m not a dealer but do sell records that I duplicate when buying job lots from car boot sales. I wouldn’t sell it on if it was a poor copy ( my garage is testament to that). Happy to answer questions, provide further information or take individual pics if requested.
