KILLER MINT NEW ORLEANS SOUL 45 VAN BROUSSARD~ WINTER WIND / I CANT COMPLAIN~ REX Killer New Orleans Northern Soul Gem! Ascension parish legend Van "The Man" Broussard. This is an original 1961 U.S. issue on REX records, 1016. Hear it on youtube! It is offered to you in the Vinyl Visual grade of MINT / MINT- (my have slight storage dish, nap) Beautiful glossy vinyl with near pristine labels. This is a New Old Stock, Unplayed copy.
The oldest of twelve children born to Van Buren Broussard Sr. and Hazel Babin Broussard, Van was born March 29, 1937. Brothers Paul and Bee Bee have passed on leaving 10 Broussard siblings. Van’s grandfather, Sydney Babin, played fiddle with the Louisiana Hayride for a number of years with Hank Williams Sr., Elvis Presley and a number of other big names which helps you understand where the Broussard’s got some of the musical talent.
At the age of 10, Van became friendly with a black guitarist named Pete Franklin who lived across the woods from Van and his parents. For about seven years Van picked Pete’s brain about guitar and learned some of what you can do with a guitar. Pete’s favorite was Blues, so Van learned the Blues. WINTER WIND was Van Broussard and the Hearts first recording.
This rare original copy is part of an amazing treasure discovered stashed away in a house in the Philadelphia area. The owner was an avid collector & part of a syndicated Philly radio program in the 1960s & 70s, acquiring copies of many now extremely hard to find 45s & LPs. Many of these records have not seen the light of day since then! Be sure to check back often as we will be listing titles regularly... This is a great find and a gem for your collection.
