Whilst it did have a couple of tracks that had an American West Coast feel to them, they were in the minority and dovetailed in quite nicely. The band seems to have decided that their original overall direction was passée and taken the view that the trendy thing was to sound even more "American". The first two tracks are pure West Coast rock, with emphasis on the boogie. One OK, one not so good. It's not all bad news, although a further incongruity is the addition of The Beatles' "Come Together" which, although handled very well, begs the question "why bother?". That said it is a good version and leads nicely into the best two tracks on the album. "Together Jam" details what you are getting - a jam, and a cracking one at that - a real return to the form of the debut. "Livable Ways" is another scorcher, a pulsating slow rocker that increases in intensity, in which there are some nice Mellotron passages. "Daydreams" starts well enough, with phased acoustic guitar and Mellotron but then 'goes west again'. "Very Long Ago" and "I Wanna Be Lazy" are more boogie rock.
