KING CRIMSON ''IN THE WAKE OF THE POSEIDON''

ORIGINAL UK PRESSING CAT NO ILPS 9127 ORIGINAL ISLAND PINK 'I' LABELS!  THIS IS AN AWESOME LOOKING COPY!   TOP VIBRANT AUDIO ON MY SYSTEMS  RARELY SEEN TEXTURED LABELS VARIATION!  EARLIEST E.DAY & CO. COVER VERY NEAR MINT NEVER SEEN LIKE THIS 41 YEARS OLD!

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING VIBRANT AUDIO!

Visually the 1st issue cover and vinyl look in near mint condition and in truly exceptional condition in my opinion. And it is listed and noted for its rare variation! Please read further, below for my audio description!

Here is another from my personal collection, collected over a period of more than 30 years and I have accumilated more than 49000 albums alone (mainly UK pressings only)! This mega rare copy to ever find in this condition and has been stored in a case for at least 35 years with the vinyl sleeve seperated from the cover for protection! This is how my father has always stored his records! Apart from the Absolutely stunning appearance of this album (and the fact that visually the vinyl looks near mint without any marks that I can see) what makes this unique and very collectable is the stunningly vibrant  main audio quality almost impossible to find like this! King Crimson albums feature many quiet and slow tracks and only the best vinyls are worth listening to in my opinion! This sounds absolutely awesome even the quieter places for the most part,, This does play with some interfearance.  Please note! It is important to note, that these original, early  Island pressings are notorious for pressing faults and allowances must be made for this fact. I have noted that there are some isolated places during the play of this vinyl that have some isolated static type interference that I heard in some isolated very quiet places especially on side two, and slight interference at the end of side one. I have scrutinised the vinyl for marks that would cause this but to be honest I can't see any marks even angled in strong light. Important note! I heard no loud clicks or pops during the audio!  I have most of the UK label variations of this album in my collection, please look at the the labels notice that these are textured! (only found like this on the earliest press)The pink colour of the labels are very very vibrant in colour unlike most that I have seen normally incipede the last factor is the matrix which caries the UK 'ILPS cat. number on the matrix but A2 and B2 matrix endings I have never seen this before nor since. (important to note, not #2 #2?)   I would class myself as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right! Complete with original 1st issue E.Day gatefold in very near pristine condition!

In the Wake of Poseidon (1970) This is the second album by the progressive rock group King Crimson!. By the time this album was released, the band had already undergone their first change in lineup, however they still maintained much of the style of their first album, In the Court of the Crimson King!

Also like their first album, the mood of this album often changes from serene to chaotic. The album opens with a poetic vocal piece called "Peace – A Beginning", which is reprised instrumentally in the middle of the album and vocally again at the end. "Pictures of a City" was originally performed live, often extended to over ten minutes and was called "A Man. A City." An example of such a performance can be found on the live album Epitaph!

The longest track on the album is a chaotic instrumental piece called "The Devil’s Triangle", which was built around quotations from Gustav Holst's "Mars: Bringer of War" from his The Planets Suite!.

King Crimson would have called the piece Mars, as they had performed it on tour in the 1969 lineup, but were forbidden by the composer's legal estate. In 1971, a brief excerpt from "The Devil’s Triangle" was featured on the BBC television series Doctor Who. Also, the track samples the chorus from "The Court of the Crimson King", the title track from the band's first album!

The Album Cover!

The work is called "The 12 Archetypes" or "The 12 Faces Of Humankind". The colour pictures were painted by Tammo De Jongh in 1967!!

(VERY RARE (NO) MOTHER STAMPERS ON BOTH SIDES VERY EARLY PRESSING)

The Vinyl

The vinyls playing surface looks trully stunning. ! I can barely even see a blemish at all and all visable signs are that this has barely ever been played at all! Very very rare to ever find! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whyspy sleeve removal only (none) which would be detrimental to the audio quality in my opinion! Please note! I can see (no) needle or audio sounding scratches or marks! At least no marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops! I must state this clearly that THIS LOOKS ALMOST AS GOOD AS IT GETS IN MY OPINION!

The Audio!

I have played this vinyl track for track at very loud volume on a top system!  Normaly it is quite exceptable and common to have static crackle\ticks during the play of this album beacause some of these early seventies Island  pressings are notorious for faults This vinyl plays with some isolated interference static\crackle or ticks which could be caused by pressing faults or even possibly dirt trapped in the grooves but the vinyl looks clean enough to me. I was truly I was blown away with the clarity and superbe main audio seperation! Please note! I have heard many many copies of this album and have in my collection other originals The main audio quality is stunning throughout! This audio must grade at least Excellent to Excellent plus for the most part in my opinion ! (no) loud clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps at all! To be highly critical just the odd isolated static/interferance/crackle ticks were heard in some isolated mega quiet places only during the play of this vinyl  Importantly it is quite obvious to me that this vinyl has barely ever been played at all, probably no more than a handful of times ever! The seperation on this album is to die for rich vibrant clear and bassey sound only heard like this on the original pressings! Audio at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion  , (isolated static type interference to be noted)

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this vinyl through at very loud volume as usual on a top system and have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality as I heard it! Please allow for the odd very very light static crackle\ isolated ticks (not) consistant throughout the audio as previously described! (Although I never heard any major problems this album is notorious for noise during its very quiet places) please remember that this is a genuine 41 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 41 year old system!

Important points to note! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 35 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle \ticks! ,, A constant clean before each play is recomended! this will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality!

The labels

These are the original and earliest Island pink 'I' labels (only the earliest press), Very important to note the colour is unusual very vibrant pink in colour compared to many that I have seen, also note the labels are the most desirable 'textured' ( later press have smooth labels very rare to find like this)  in superbe condition. Amaizingly even angled to the light, it is hard for me  to see any spider marks (very rare to find like this) it is obvoius visually and audibly that this vinyl has barely ever been played no more than a handful of times in my opinion!

The Cover.

This is the original 1st uk press E.DAY & CO TEXTURED GATEFOLD COVER! (unlaminated) These are mega hard to keep in good condition often seen in a terrible state! This looks very near perfect on initial inspection! With (no) splits tares and amaizingly (no) real creases worth to mention! Amaizingly, the spine is square and straight very near perfect in my opinion! Any rubbing or indeed any storage ware is barely worth to mention to notice any you would have to really scrutinise this cover to see, there is very slight rubbing ware at the bottom and top edges only. Quite unbeleivable to  find like this!   Must be at least excellent plus in my opinion! stunning cover!

A top copy to ever find after 41 years
