KING CRIMSON ~ In The Court Of The… UK LP 1st Pressing Pink i Label A2 B3 Nice!!
King Crimson ~ In The Court Of. Island Records ILPS 9111. 1969.
Nice original 1st press copy on the Pink “i” label with early A2 B3 matrix, great chance to own an original copy of this ground breaking LP.
Detailed Gradings: -
Outer Sleeve: VG
The outer gatefold sleeve is in VG condition, many would grade as VG+ but I grade on the conservative side. There are no serious flaws, just a moderate amount of wear to the sleeve all round. There is some rubbing to the edges and spine and some slight wear to the front cover as shown in the photos but none of this spoils what is really a respectably clean cover with just normal signs of moderate use.
Vinyl: VG
The vinyl is graded as VG. Under bright halogen light some very faint whispy hairlines can be seen and a few hairlines (maybe 4 or 5) which are more readily visible, but visually don’t appear too deep or serious. I have play graded this LP so please see below for more information. This is a decent condition LP, certainly well above average for the normal condition this LP is found in.
Matrix No’s :
Side A : ILPS 9111 A Ñ 2 1 2 10
Side B : ILPS 9111 B 3 1 1
Labels: EX+
Very clean on both sides. Under a bright light a few light spindle lines can be seen. Really nice condition.
Inner Sleeve:
A brand new poly lined generic white inner sleeve is supplied with the LP, the original inner sleeve is not present.
Audio Grading : VG
The record plays pretty much as would be expected from the visual inspection. There are no jumps or skips or particularly loud clicks, just a moderate amount of consistent background noise which whilst not particularly intrusive, is present through most of the LP and is more noticeable in the albums quieter sections, such as on the track “Moonchild”. The more readily hairlines referred to above did not produce any notable additional background noise. Overall, it’s a decent audio reproduction without being either unpleasant or indeed completely free of any background noise.
Overall this is a very acceptable copy which is generally very clean and without major faults. There is a moderate amount of wear to both sleeve and record, but despite this it is still a really nice copy of what is a highly collectable original 1st pressing on the pink “i” label.
Postage and Packing:
All records are been placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high grade type which re-inforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use. Despite using high quality packing materials, I only charge the actual costs of postage.
