King Crimson : In The Wake Of Poseidon 25MM 0262 (Japan) Polydor w/ OBI
This 1983 re-press of this classic album could not play any better, the sonic quality is stunning! It is the finest example I have ever listened to and is above the UK first / early pressings in terms of audio quality. The clarity, depth, power and warmth of the audio is sensational and when I say there is zero interference I mean it! There is just one very light static tick on S1 and that is it, no other background. I cannot stress enough just how unbelievable the audio and it has clearly only ever been played 2/3 times at most. It easily qualifies as a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing in every way.
The cover is also in fantastic condition with only two small 'specks' on the inside, no other wear! It is the newest looking cover over 40 years old that I have seen in a long time! The Obi is perfect and the lyric insert is also in superb shape.

Visual description
The vinyl is in beautiful condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Even when I look under a bright light I cannot see any hairlines, it just could not visually look any better. The red Polydor labels are more or less perfect with just one very faint spindle trace on S1 and just two on S2. Stunning!
Play grading
The very quiet 'Peace - A Beginning' plays beautifully with no interference and only one minor static. This is a Mint- at the very least.
The intro on 'Pictures Of A City...' could not play any better and the first verse is just as impressive. Already the power and depth of the audio stands out, the sonic quality is stunning. The following instrumental / verse / instrumental play with incredible precision and wow does it play loud! The quiet passage is as good as new with not even a single dust tick and as it builds out of this section the playback is still perfect. The final verse is just as strong and the crescendo ending is again so loud and powerful with no interference or distortion. Mint is 100% deserved here.
The acoustic intro on 'Cadence And Cascade' is 'as new' and this standard is kept up throughout. Every vocal and instrumental section plays with STUNNING precision and I cannot remember when I last heard a version as clean. Mint is again an honest appraisal of the audio, this is the definitive version.
'In The Wake Of Poseidon' plays with phenomenal quality from the word go. The intro and first verse play perfectly and it progresses in the same way. Again you would not believe the clarity on offer here and the mid instrumental section is a case in point, well every section is basically! The final verse keeps up this fine standard and the end instrumental plays with exceptional quality also. It is Mint from start to finish even through the long fade out. I have to repeat the sonic quality here is just staggering, I would even place it above the UK first pressings that's how good it is.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Peace - A Theme' has a clarity and warmth that can only be described 'as new'. Ok this was pressed in '83 but that still makes it over 40 years old and so far every track play like they have never been played before! This acoustic track not one dust tick let alone anything more and Mint is an easy grade to give.
Let's keep this brief. 'Cat Food' plays to same high end standard with no intrusion of any kind. Again the sonic quality is outstanding and Mint is richly deserved.
You will not be surprised to hear that 'The Devil's Triangle' plays with stunning quality through every section. Starting with the percussive 'Merday Morn' the clarity is just on another level. A very quiet slow build up of course and yet all you can hear is the music, there is literally no background of any kind, and that is prevalent throughout. 'Hand Of Sceiron' is just as strong and again the depth and resonance of the audio is second to none. The third part 'Garden Of Worm' completes this instrumental with flawless audio. The quiet intro is perfect and the few seconds of silence that follow are indeed 100% silent. It continues to play with unparalleled quality i.e. no background. The 'busy' ending could not play with any greater precision and each section here grade as Mint that's how clean and precise the audio is.
The acoustic intro on 'Peace - An End' is perfect and Lake's vocal through every verse is just as impressive. It would be annoying if there was some interference on this final track and I'm pleased to say there isn't! The clarity of sound from the first note to the last is 'as new' and obviously it grades as Mint
In summary this Japanese pressing plays to the highest standard possible and by that I mean 'as new'. That's always a bold statement to make but having played the album in full and having confidence in my grading 'ability' I am happy to say every track is Mint without a doubt. That is not a selling technique that's is just me being 100% honest and as stated above this is easily the finest version of this classic album that I have listened to. I mean a Near Mint / Mint first UK pressing is impressive but I truly think this '83 pressing takes the sonic quality to another level. In hand with a stunning cover this will appeal to any avid collector, it doesn't get any better than this!
The Gatefold, Obi & Insert
The glossy cover is in fantastic condition and has no shelf wear as simple as that. It is visually stunning and looks brand new no exaggeration. The edges, spine and corners are perfect and the front and back cover are as clean and fresh as when first produced back in '83. The inside of the gatefold is as close to perfect as could with just one small white 'spot' on each panel no doubt caused by sticking together. This is a very minor thing though. The Obi strip is absolutely Mint and this is clearly a cover that has been so well preserved down the years and hardly ever handled. It is stunning!
The English / Japanese insert is also in lovely condition with no marking and only very minimal creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
