KING CRIMSON - IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON Year:1970 Cat: ILPS 9127 A1- 311/B1-132 MATRIX
- On offer here is superb looking copy of this sought after King Crimson classic.
- The delicate textured E.J Day gatefold cardboard sleeve is perfectly flat with no creases and shows virtually no signs of wear apart from some rubbing through the colour on the bottom edges and less so on the top.Tiny sticker removal mark at top left is hardly visible. The spine is fully intact with slight rubbing but all the text is still visible. Inside the gatefold is immaculate. Sleeve graded at least EX.
- The diecut paper Patents inner shows very little wear and is graded EX.
- The first press vinyl has great gloss and apart from one light mark visible on Side 1 under strong light is also immaculate. Visually graded EX. The pink Island labels are in excellent condition with no marks or writing only a few small spindle trails. However this particular record is known for variable pressing quality and this is one such copy! When played there is noise on both leadins and most of the quiet passages including Cadence and Cascade. Like all Crimson records there is a wide dynamic range and the louder passages are fine. So overall the record can only be playgraded GOOD. If you want a pristine playing copy please do not bid - but ideal for a sleeve upgrade or collection filler. My records are graded in accordance with Record Collector's Grading System as follows:
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc
