THE KINGS of progressive rock. There's no arguing that Robert Fripp and his band of merry progsters re-wrote the rule book when it came to crafting music of an altogether higher level of sophistication and inventiveness. Sure, they arrived on the scene with one of the most outstanding debut albums of all time yet they managed to continue their musical assault well into the seventies with a string of steller releases, each one driving their message deeper into the buying publics psyche.
'Larks' Tongue...' was the bands sixth album and showcases a group pushing the boundaries of contemporary progressive rock. It would also be an album recorded by a re-tooled line-up featuring John Wetton and Bill Bruford, band members who would summarily be disgarded as quickly as they were hired The music here is intense yet somewhat free flowing - as wild a take on free jazz by a mildly out of control prog band as you could imagine. Long tracks, mad disonant chords, crazy time signatures, quirky twists and turns, mad saxophone and blistering lead guitar solos - all in all, just what you might expect from the worlds mots accomplished and forward thinking turn of the seventies rock band.

Pressing: Island, UK, 1973- Original pink rim
Vinyl: Nice clean and very shiny condition. A few spindle marks on labels. One surface scuff caused by a wayward needle manoeuvre - possibly a few very faint clicks but its hard to tell these apart from normal light static noise. Only mentioning this for full discloser purposes but nothing to worry about. Certinly does not affect playback or enjoyment whatsoever. Beautiful punchy and warm analoque sound. Grades as a lovely Ex+
Cover: Very little signs of use. Housed in a superbly designed sleeve - nice and clean - just a hint of storage. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is stiff, square and uncrushed with original pinches top and bottom. Impossible to find in this condition after 41 years. Grades as a nice Ex+
