 Great album's worth of rare funk tracks recorded for the independent (and long-defunct) Paragon label by  King Herbert & The

 Knights. The original vinyl album almost impossible to find and has never been re-issued. 

King Herbert & The Knights were part of a funk and r&b scene that sprung up in Toronto throughout the 1960s and early '70s.

 Producer Jack Boswell recorded the group live with no overdubs on a four-track (and usually in one or two takes in order to save

 money) at Spectra Sound Studios, located in engineer Bill Bessey's basement. The Knights consisted of King Herbert on tenor sax,

 Roland Simmonds on lead guitar, David Jones on organ, George Philips on bass, Jimmy Butler on drums and vocalist Jack Harden

"Sissy Strut" is, of course, a cover of The Meters' original, although I don't know why it's spelled "Sissy" instead of "Cissy", and

 "Ode To Billy Joe" is an instrumental version of the huge 1967 Bobbie Gentry hit. "Amen" also sounds familiar, although I couldn't

 hazard a guess as to who did the original version. All three tracks are very raw, funky soul of the sort people generally don't

 associate with Canada.

I will not sell LPs that appear to be in less of a condition than I myself would be happy to receive. The only exception would be truly rare discs and then any flaws would be clearly explained. Having been disappointed by the condition of a number of LPs purchased I am EXTREMELY sensitive to this issue and will try my best to grade with this in mind.
