KINGDOM COME / SELF-TITLED DEBUT Vinyl 835 368-1 POLYDOR 1988 FIRST PRESS NM/NM. Their First Album, vintage 1988. Beautiful condition NM/NM. I’ve had this since Day #1 and have played it many times (it totally ROCKS!!) and I have cared-for it since. From my own Personal Collection. A REAL CLASSIC (see below.)

First Album from the now-legendary German / American Rock Band Kingdom Come. Lenny Bruce and his Boys. This album I remember well from when it came out in 1988. I was a young teenager then. It was crazy, but the song “Get It On” was released as a single. Well, pretty-soon everyone was playing it (it was all-over the radio!) and people were commenting on the Group’s “Led Zeppelin-ESQUE” sound and style. Up until this time, we thought that The Honeydrippers and The Firm were something!! Robert Plant and Jimmy Page efforts. Well, Kingdom Come just blew everyone away! The album (this one here, their Debut, First Album) actually WENT GOLD, 500,000 copies sold, BEFORE THE ALBUM WAS EVEN RELEASED!! The advance sales put it over-the-top as Gold. Unbelievable. Then we heard the Track “Living Out Of Touch.” This album is truly legendary, and Kingdom Come of course is still around today, Rocking old and new Fans. I actually purchased a new turntable at this time (still have it, a Technics Direct-Drive Automatic Turntable. And a new Technics Amp / Receiver (also still going-strong.). Very, very good times!!

Please see the item details section at the beginning of the Listing for all pertinent details. Please note, in the Matrix Number section there, I have given exactly what is in the “Dead-Wax / Run-Off” of the vinyl disc. The LABEL Matrix Numbers are: Side 1: 422 835 368-1 ; Side 2: 422 835 368-1. Obviously, the most-accurate information is ALWAYS in the Dead-Wax Runoff part of the record disc. “Labels can be incorrect as they are ‘slapped-on’ depending on stock levels on-hand.” Please remember that, as it is all-important. Likewise, album jackets may not be totally correct. They, too, are used as available in the factory. This explains some confusing aspects with rare records—say, BEATLES, Stones, etc. But really any record. First check your catalog numbers—record jacket spine, the back maybe of the jacket, THEN your record disc LABELS. THEN, the Matrix data (plural is “Matrices” lol now there’s something essential!! Haha!!) MatriXES is fine, if you say that!

This record was also “Direct-Metal-Mastered” (DMM) by Mr. George Marino, at Sterling Studios (Mastering Studios) then in New York City, USA. I covered Direct Metal Mastering in some earlier Listings this year. It is important and again, the Matrix area will have this “scratched-into” the Dead-Wax. You can usually find a reference to the Mastering Studio and person who did it, on either the album jacket (back) or the inner-sleeve in the “technical section.” But this won’t tell you the Mastering process used, such as traditional or Direct-Metal. So, with Direct Metal Mastering, there is no “lacquer” Master as with most records. And we eliminate a few steps in the Process this way. Because the usual steps involve “positive” and “negative “ masters. A lacquer is the first, made from the recording tapes (and Analog is best here, we now know, rather than digital.). A lacquer is a mighty flimsy thing. So the process involves steps with copper coatings and grooves cut either negative or positive (they are either pronounced, above the surface, OR cut INTO the surface (grooves as we usually think of them.). Electrical action with chemicals and the copper coatings, brings us further along to where we end up with 2-4 “Mothers.” From Mothers we make Stampers, then use a Stamper (one for each side of the record, 1 & 2 or A & B.) a record press uses Stampers to make a vinyl record. Making CDs is similar in many ways, and much of the terminology is the same. What this all means is, with DMM Masters, you’ll have a much better finished record disc, much noise being eliminated. You Audiophiles know exactly what I mean. MASTERDISK is another Mastering Studio that does DMM Mastering. If you have time, check out some of today’s Mastering Studios online, their websites. They will give you some great info. They like to give today’s Artists all the options they can especially if the Artists are going to release vinyl, which many more are doing. I MIGHT ALSO NOTE HERE THAT THIS RECORD WAS PRESSED, at Specialty Records Corporation.
