THE KINKS: Drivin´ / Mindless Child Of Motherhood (´69 / rare combination of orig. U.K. 7" with orig. German picture sleeve / PYE DV 14907 (p/s) + PYE 7N.17776 (vinyl) / light-blue label with push-out center / unique p/s with photo from a Kinks´ performance in the legendary German TV show "Beat Club" / at first look this may look like a very unlikely combination, but in Germany - for reasons, which are completely unknown to me - the initial bunch of records were sold with imported U.K. records (in other words: at the beginning German pressings of this record just didn´t exist, the only thing the German record company did, was to add picture sleeves to the records they had imported!) / it should be noted, that this is no "one-off" and also no "personal combination" by record collectors, but a combination, that´s not really "uncommon": to tell the truth about 50% of the copies sold in Germany did come out with these U.K. records inside the German p/s / the only reason I can think of as an explanation for the import of the records is the following: at the time of "Drivin´"´s release the sales of Kinks´ records had been dropping in a notable way, so maybe German PYE were a bit "insecure" whether to release this 7" or not - so they might have opted for the half-hearted compromise of putting the record out on the market to check, where sales might be going to, without manufacturing the records themselves - and the curious thing is: once they had decided to press the record themselves the demand came to a "stop" and the number of sales began to go down!... - this would explain, why both versions, the ones including U.K. records and the ones including German records, do have about the same degree of rarity)
