Description

This is The Village Green Preservation Society by the Kinks. Without doubt one of the classic albums of the 1960`s. A unique album that only the Kinks could have made, featuring unforgettable songs powerfully portaying English ways of life and sentiments. A masterpiece!

                                                                                                               Record

I have graded the record at Very Good Plus. It has no major visual faults such as huge scuffing or major long running scratches.

Under close scrutiny with a bright light there is an average number of  handling lines and light marks typical of most records of this age,

and there is some loss of glossiness. None of the hairlines are feelable and the record plays with NO skips or jumps.

Just a typical very good plus record with nothing outstandly bad!

Labels

The labels I have graded at Excellent Plus. They are clean with no writing or marks. There is little or no wear to the spindle hole and under close examination I could make out about four or five very light spindle lines. Clearly the record had been played a lot more than this, but the labels have fared very well over the years.

Cover

I have graded the cover Very Good Plus. It would have made the full Excellent grade but for two front cover creases (top right and bottom right of the picture). The cover is the first true original, having mono printed on the top right of the rear cover with a stereo sticker placed on top. The cover has no writing, tears or ringwear.

Front Cover

The front is fully laminated and very clean. One small laminate lift on the bottom left, and the two cover creases as described above. No writing, rips or tears

Back Cover

The back is fully laminated and very clean. There is no creasing. Two laminate lift patches to the top and bottom right. No writing, rips or tears. There is a very mild record shape visible in angled light, but definitely not ringwear.

Gatefold Inner

The inner gatefold has a nice appearance and has no ringwear, rips or writing. On the left gatefold side only the top front cover crease line is lightly visible. PLEASE NOTE- the line running across the band member on the the extreme right is NOT a crease but part of the gatefold image.

Spine Edge

The spine has no splits or wear apart from the corners. Common with most gatefolds the spine has retreated to the rear of the sleeve slightly. All of the spine text is completely legible with no splits or rubs.

Record Entry Edge

This is inside the gatefold inner to the right, and is straight with no wear at all, with no splits or feathering.

Top and Bottom Edges

Straight with no splits or wear at all.

Corners

Some wear to the two spine corners. Only tiny wear to the others (hardly noticeable).

Sound Quality

This way this album played I have play graded the album entirely and it plays with great audio quality way above its visual grading with no p roblems whatsoever. There are no skips or jumps. There is no distortion, hiss or crackle at all to be heard throughout. Even the run in grooves are almost completely silent, just a tiny rumble or maybe a click! A great playing album!

Overall

I very rarely list any records less than excellent but I felt this copy deserved to be listed particularly for its sound quality. Its not the top copy we all desire of course, but a very respectable Vg+ that I hope finds a new home at a modest price!

SIDE ONE : The Village Green Preservation Society, Do You Remember Walter, Picture Book, Johnny Thunder, Last Of The Steam-Powered Trains, Big Sky, Sitting By The Riverside

SIDE TWO : Animal Farm, Village Green, Starstruck, Phenominal Cat, All Of My Friends Were There, Wicked Anabella, Monica, People Take Pictures Of Each Other

The grading system I use is from Record Collector:- Mint, Excellent, Very Good with +/- to distinguish borderline grades.

I treat all vinyl with the greatest respect whether  £5 or £50, so all records are sent out with plastic covers in professional mailers and two protective stiffeners. I do not post records inside their covers or original inner sleeves to prevent seam splits occurring during shipping.

Please do not bid if you have significant negative feedback unless checking first
