YOU WANTED THE BEST, YOU GOT THE BEST! is the stage announcement that begins every Kiss concert, and now it is also the title of a live album that announces the return to arenas across the land of Kiss' original, face-painted lineup. YOU WANTED THE BEST shows off the same four--the Lover, the Demon, the Spaceman and the Cat--in their heyday. It's a compilation of material that originally appeared on the classic live albums ALIVE! (1975) and ALIVE II (1977), handsomely dressed up with four songs that didn't appear on either album.
The set list is an interesting mix of familiar ("Beth," "Rock And Roll All Nite") and lesser known ("Firehouse," "I Stole Your Love") Kiss songs from the band's mid-'70s prime. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons freely toss around ribald double entendres in songs like "Room Service" and "Calling Dr. Love." Lead guitarist Ace Frehley ably displays his range in "Rock Bottom," and drummer Peter Criss' timekeeping in "Room Service" is as essential as is his singing on "Beth."
Wrapping up this live collection is an interview with Jay Leno, in which Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter discuss influences, make-up and touring plans.

MINT (M) ~ Perfect in every way and never played. Sealed.
Near Mint(NM) - A mint piece of vinyl, this would be our highest grading used for any open record, still has original luster with only the slightest of use (no noticeable scuffs or scratching and will play with no distractions). Cover: Almost perfect without any flaws, almost always in shrink-wrap.
Excellent (EX) - This record would fall between NM- and VG, it’s not quite NM- but is better than VG. This would be only slightly less visually than NM- but still should play almost flawlessly. Cover: Slight wear may be displayed.
Very Good (plus) (VG +) - A very nice record that has been played a little and handled very carefully. Starting to show signs of use such as hairline scratching and scuffing but is still a well-cared-for album and may have some slight discernible imperfection in the audio. Cover: Will have minimal marks and wear.
Very Good (VG) - A nice record which has been played and handled, discs have scratches, and Surface scuffing . Noticeable but minimal surface noise. Groove wear will have started. Cover: Will have seam wear, slight ring wear, or slight corner rounding.
GOOD (G) - Record shows visible sign of play with scratches and scuffs, may have slight surface noise. Cover: Normal used cover wear such as ring wear and split
