KOKO TAYLOR - SELF TITLED LP. Her debut LP. This copy a 1969 US STEREO PROMO PRESSING on the CHESS LABEL CAT# LPS1532DJ. On the label it says DJ COPY NOT FOR SALE, and there's a stamp on the back cover that says the same, for anyone that doesn't look at labels... You can count the number of female blues artists on one hand. Koko was the real deal. She had a powerful voice, and was a no nonsense badass who gave her all in her performances. Like most blues LPs, it's always a challenge to find great copies. None of them were particularly big sellers, and the blues fans played their beloved records a lot. This copy is very respectable.. A great playing copy, and with the extra panache of being a promo copy.
COVER is VG It suffers a bit from toning and slight wear on the cover, as well as 2 small corner dings on the spine side, and one larger ding top opening. The DJ COPY stamp on the back cover is a reminder that this was probably tossed around a radio station that may not have even cared about blues artists. And, I say that is a good thing for this copy now, because the vinyl is in fantastic condition. Probably from little play at the station.
