Description
DOMESTIC $ 5 PLUS $ 1 EACH INTERNATIONAL $ 21 PLUS $ 7 EACH Came in five different colors including green, red, yellow, blue and white. 500 copies pressed in total of 100 in each color . Self-titled album by Metal madmen Kraken. This was privately pressed by the band themselves. Produced by Lips of Anvil, a reasonable reference point for the bands sound too. Although they're not as speedy in approach as their countrymen, preferring a more traditional velocity for their Heavy Metal thunder. They split up in 1984 after a second demo, listen & weep for what might have been. REMEBER THIS IS THE CANADIAN BAND NOT THE OTHER 9 BANDS LISTED ON METAL ARCHIVES Had Kraken ever been able to secure a record deal and make a legitimate studio album, they may well have made a name for themselves. Their sound was kind of like Anvil — heavy and unhinged. But there is obviously a more direct NWOBHM influence here as well. An epic vibe flows through the proceedings. Lead track Abandoned is a standout that sounds like some of the rich metal emanating from Sweden at the time. The solos are a bit gangly and unglued, but we can overlook that minor blight in lieu of the band’s youthful verve.
