Impossible-to-find still-sealed copy of the 6th volume in this series documenting German modern and avant garde music of the 20th century. This entry is unique in that it features an entire side devoted to the German experimental improv scene, with tracks compiled from mega-rare Wergo and FMP free jazz albums ("Cadenza", "Tower", and "Filet Americain"). In addition there is an exclusive Kagel recording that I believe has never been released elsewhere, Sur Scene, a crazy electronic experimental theater piece featuring the Kontarsky brothers and the composer conducting. Those alone make this set well worth having, but there's much more including a live electronic work and experimental vocal piece by Schnebel featuring Gerd Zacher, Juan Allende-Blin, and Rainer Riehn, an interesting saxophone piece by Hespos with Hanns-Wilhelm Goetzke, excerpts from an experimental opera by Henze in collaboration with poet W. H. Auden, and several more obscure pieces, some previously released and some exclusive to this set (see photos for full list). Other performers of note are Bruno Maderna (conducting the Huber piece), Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Siegfried Palm, Christoph Caskel, Helmut Eder, and Andrzej Markowski. Kagel is a composer of experimental music and music-theater, conductor, and filmmaker who studied literature under Jorge Luis Borges; he was influenced by Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, Erik Satie, and Harry Partch, he worked on early electronic music at the WDR Koln studios alongside Herbert Eimert, Robert Beyer, Gottfried Michel Koenig, Bruno Maderna, Konrad Boehmer, Herbert Brun, Karel Goeyvaerts, Bengt Hambraeus, Henri Pousseur, Anestis Logothetis, Gyorgi Ligeti, and Franco Evangelisti, and he lectured at the famous Darmstadt courses where he mingled with Luigi Nono, Earle Brown, Pierre Boulez, and Olivier Messiaen.
