Description
Pretty RARE ORIGINAL U.K. 1961 Pale Blue Gold Rim Nipper STEREO pressing of Kai Windings ‘The Incredible Kai Winding Trombones’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: HMV CSD 1368). This is contained in the original flip-back sleeve. If you’re looking at this you probably know how rare these early U.K. stereo pressings are particularly when it comes to popular music (as opposed to classical music). Needless to say stereo didn’t become the dominant format in the U.K. until the late 1960s and therefore a Jazz LP from 1961 on stereo isn’t something you come across every day and would’ve been pressed in incredibly small numbers. Quite frankly you would’ve likely had to have gone out of your way to obtain a stereo copy of this in 1961. This is a really beautiful copy which has clearly been very well looked after. It is always a good sign when the vinyl is stored inside the original poly-lined inner (‘Important – Take good care…’) and that is the case here. I grade all my items under an intense light and here the surfaces still retain a great sheen. I would perhaps say that there has been a very, very subtle reaction between the poly-lined inner and the record surface. There really are no marks of substance (i.e. which can be seen in normal daylight or which can be felt). Ultimately, I can tell that the record has seen some play however, you have to look very, very hard to see a limited amount of miniscule hairline markings. Crucially, the beautiful gold labels are in stunning condition. There is some evidence of spindle drags around the spindle-hole on Side Two however, you have to angle the vinyl under an intense light to pick this up. The vinyl is confidently graded as being in EXCELLENT condition and I believe it will be very hard to locate a superior copy. Let’s face it – If you bothered to purchase a stereo copy of a Jazz L.P. in 1961 then the chances are that you played it and played it hard. The sleeve has also survived in superior condition. The laminate still retains a certain ‘fresh’ appearance and the rear is still pretty white. There is a suggestion of fraying along the opening edge. Each of the corners displays a minimal amount of fraying. The bottom edge of the sleeve has sustained two knocks which while not immediately obvious have exposed the white underbelly of the sleeve. I note one very small, insignificant crease to the front of the sleeve in the centre near the spine. This is a product of the sleeve being gripped between the fingertips whilst the vinyl is removed. There is a red tag on the rear of the sleeve in the top right-hand corner which doesn’t bother me in the slightest however, I know some people get quite animated about such things (it could likely be removed however, it would just as likely cause an air bubble in the laminate). There is a small ‘taxation’ stamp (‘ZT’) in the bottom right-hand corner on the rear. This is beautiful copy of this sleeve which is also graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.

Concluding Remarks
A nice item which doesn’t come up for sale very often. Please check my other auctions for further Jazz lps as well as a large selection of Folk, Pop, RnB, Rock and Soul items in similarly immaculate condition. Please save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!
General Conditions & Information
I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader. I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!). As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself. I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light. Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself.
Returns Policy
If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt. The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.
Payment Methods
Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order. Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.
Postage Costs
I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013. Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00. Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically. Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise). Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required. I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it? Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion. Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).
Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs. I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
Proof of postage is always obtained and retained.
Overseas Buyers
As noted above Overseas buyers are welcome. If you want me to investigate potential postage costs in advance of the auction’s end then please feel free to contact me.
