Description
This is a truly unusual pressing: an RVG-stamped “P”-pressing of Kenny Burrell “Blue Lights, Volume 2” on the West 63rd (no INC or R) labels of Blue Note BLP 1597, with no deep-groove but with a “REVIEW COPY” stamp on Side 2! The playing surface is in near-new condition, with light superficial splotches that are typical of records that have been stored for a lengthy period in their original paper inner sleeves. The laminated West 63rd St. cover has artwork by Andy Warhol and is clean throughout with normal age toning on the back slick; timings in red ink have been written next to the tune titles on the back; ½” ding at the upper right corner; printing defect towards to top center of the front. The presence of the “REVIEW COPY” stamp on a non deep-groove copy of this record raises an interesting question about the issuing of review copies and the order in which Blue Note records were pressed, similar to last year’s auction of BLP 4059 with no deep-groove on Side 2 but with a “REVIEW COPY” stamp on Side 1. Personnel include Tina Brooks, Louis Smith, Duke Jordan, and Art Blakey. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PAYPAL. Please do not bid unless you are comfortable providing credit card information directly. The “Blue Note Records” book – “A Guide for Identifying Original Pressings” is now available on eBay.
