Description

This is the original deep-groove RVG-etched “P” pressing of Kenny Dorham “Afro-Cuban” on the Lexington Avenue (no “INC.”) labels of Blue Note BLP 1535. The flat rim playing surfaces have a few light, inaudible scuffs and handling marks as well as a few splotches that are typical of records that have been long stored in their original inner sleeves, but there is a high luster and no indication of groove wear: basically a very clean and bright copy that plays as new. The non-laminated cover is clean throughout and has the Lexington Ave. address, but no frame: the seams have been professionally restored, along with a ½” area in the upper left corner of the front where a price sticker was removed; there is normal age toning to the back slick and a ½” sticker in the upper right corner. Personnel include Hank Mobley, Cecil Payne, J.J. Johnson, Horace Silver, and Art Blakey. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------CHECK OUT the new book: "Blue Note Records, A Guide for Identifying Original Pressings" by Frederick Cohen.
