Usually listed as a plain blues rock band but this is so much more than that, the blues roots are evident on most tracks but there’s also a definite early progressive feel throughout and also some psychy effects, excellent album and like most things increasingly hard to find these days especially as a UK pressing in this sort of condition.

Condition:

Sleeve: Well, I’ve seen better but this is perfectly acceptable. It’s a standard late sixties unlaminated gatefold made of thickish card. No manufacturers name is given.

The front with it’s very stricking design is in nice shape, there’s no writing anywhere and only a couple of very small crows feet type creases coming in from the spine. In the top right corner there are two very small sticker tears which someone has coloured in a dark green colour which disguises them well, arms length in a PVC sleeve (which I’ll supply) and they are very hard to see.

The rear is in equally nice condition with only a few tiny creases coming in from the spine to spoil it, it’s clean, no writing, no tears, just a decent acceptable copy.

Inside the gatefold is clean with no tears or writing anywhere, there is a little bit of rubbing wear on the grey bits but nothing serious.

The top seam is where the sleeve is most worn. There is moderately heavy wear here.

The bottom seam also has some moderately heavy wear.

The spine has a very small amount of wear, there’s no writing on the spine but if there were it would be readable.

Record: The disc is also very nice without being mint. It’s made of thickish vinyl which is very clean and still has a nice dark shine. Viewed under normal light and it looks fine with no visible marks. When viewed under a harsh light there are only a few light hairline marks to be seen, these are caused by taking the record in and out of the sleeve and are totally inaudible.

The two labels are in perfect condition. Both are very clean with no writing, stickers or tears and very little visible spindle wear.

When played it’s enjoyable with a good clear sound which comes leaping out of the speakers. The sound is full with a wide dynamic range and there’s no distortion to spoil your enjoyment. There are half a dozen low level background clicks on the first track on side two but these are below the level of the music and will only be evident at high volume, those apart there is no other surface noise at all throughout the entire album, not even any low level crackles between tracks.

All in all well, the sleeve could be improved on although it doesn’t have any major flaws and still looks attractive but the record plays really well and it’ll be hard to find a better copy of this one.
