Original promotional Atlantic Records issue of King Crimson’s “In The Court Of The Crimson King” released on December 10, 1969. The album is considered to be one of the greatest progressive rock albums of all time. This Sample Copy was pressed at the Atlantic, Presswell, NJ plant. 1st print thick textured cardboard gatefold cover contains the original clear “King Crimson” hype sticker with the Atlantic fan logo and 4-digit “SD 8245” catalog number on the front. Just like its other promotional copies, Atlantic Records equipped the cover of this copy with a round orange “Promotional Copy Not For Sale” sticker which is also located on the front. Original special print Atlantic Records “Sample Copy Not For Sale” white promotional labels with the “SD 8245” catalog number and “1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y.” address. Unlike the other promotional pressings of this album, the labels of this copy contain a double (1.25” and 2.75”) pressing ring which is characteristic of the Presswell issue. The full matrix numbers of this special DJ radio station promotional copy are as follows: Side 1 – STA.691699-C  LW  AT  W; Side 2 – ST.A.691700-C  LW  AT  W. The album comes with the original “From The Atlantic Catalogue” inner sleeve showing the other Atlantic releases.

The cover is in Excellent Plus condition. I grade the vinyl as Strong Very Good Plus. It has a beautiful factory gloss only having some very light non-feelable surface hairlines as well as scuffs from the original inner sleeve which is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits or tears. The clean white labels are in Excellent Plus condition and only have a couple of barely noticeable age discoloration spots, but no spindle marks, wear or scuffs. The vinyl sounds amazing only having some very light occasional static which most likely, could get reduced or go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
