Japanese Red Vinyl Reissue LP released in the 1960’s on Capitol Records. Cat: CPT7310. Comes in gloss cover with back flaps.
The film soundtrack to Walter Lang's The King And I is distinguished from the Broadway cast album chiefly by Alfred Newman's expanded orchestrations and by the presence of Marni Nixon in the role of Anna Leonowens. On film, the part was played by Deborah Kerr, but Nixon, one of the best invisible voices in Hollywood (she also ghosted Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady) is the wonderful singer of songs like "I Whistle A Happy Tune" and "Getting To Know You," sung onstage by Gertrude Lawrence, who died before the film was made. Yul Brynner repeats his performance as the king, and Rita Moreno gets to play Tuptim and sing "We Kiss In A Shadow." This is a Hollywood adaptation done right--bigger and more dramatic than Broadway can be, with a show that benefits from the frills--and makes you wonder why they didn't always do as well.

Record has a few light scuff marks and is in Excellent condition. Cover has light ring wear and light marks and is in Excellent condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.

Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
