Description
You are bidding on an uber rare and very rarely offered for sale programme for a Pop Festival that took place on May 30th 1966 at Sincil Bank, Lincoln. This festival predated the much feted Monterey festival by over a year. The Who and the Kinks only ever shared the bill on three occasions, this is the second the last was in 1969 in Uncle Sam.
The line up was a truly astounding who's-who of the UK's mid-sixties rock scene, from top down, the bill:
- The Who
- The Kinks
- The Alan Price Set
- The Yardbirds
- She Trinity
- The Koobas
- The Ivy League
- Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mitch &Titch
- Screaming Lord Sutch
- Crispian St Peter
- The Barron Knights
- The Small Faces
- Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames
- The Dimples
- The Creation (their first ever gig)
- The Children
- The Brotherhud
The programme takes the form of a broadsheet newspaper (750mm x 600mm), printed by the Lincolnshire Chronicle. The programme consists of 16 pages, each with a biog and picture of the artists, which is punctuated with fascinating period adverts and festival information.
The festival was surprisingly a flop due to poor advertising and a high admission price, due this and the newspaper format only a handful of programmes of this historic event survive, here is a near unique chance to own a real piece of rock history in as good as condition as one is likely to get.
Payment is by Paypal (no exceptions), UK post will be Special Delivery, insured and tracked.
I ship overseas, the programme will be sent at cost, tracked and insured where the service exists to the buyers destination.
There will be no returns on this item, to prevent scanning and returning.
