Otto Klemperer/ The Philharmonia Orchestra

Bruckner: Symphony No. 7

(Columbia UK Stereo 2 x LP 1962)

This is a UK original 2 x LP Stereo set (LP 1 and LP 2). I have listed each LP individually below:

1. Bruckner: Symphony No.7 (LP 1) (Columbia SAX 2454 UK Stereo LP 1962)

This is an original UK Stereo pressing. It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which has a mid sized "Stereo" on the front. It comes with its original generic polythene-lined generic "EMI" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" labels. It has 1st press YAX 845-5 and YAX 846-4 matrix numbers.

Sleeve: There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, very mild or very minor rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on a few areas. This is not too noticeable. There is an extremely small 0.5 cm area of hairline rubbing wear near the top of the spine. Otherwise, the spine is in great condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. This is mainly on the front sleeve. NEAR EXCELLENT condition.

Vinyl: There are a few light or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These are mainly on the dead wax areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Very NEAR EXCELLENT condition.  The labels are in Near Mint condition and show next to no spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall, & Excellent in some places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in some places. This LP would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Visually the disc looks in Excellent condition. Therefore, any crackle is just due to microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. It would play, I believe, Excellent+ and better after a professional clean. It would remove any crackle.

2. Bruckner: Symphony No.7 (LP 2) (Columbia SAX 2455 UK Stereo LP 1962)

It has 1st press YAX 847-4 and YAX 848-2 matrix numbers.

Sleeve: There is some more moderate rubbing wear to the bottom corner tip at the sleeve opening. There is some mild rubbing wear to the other three corner tips. There is some light, mild or very minor rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable. There is an extremely small 0.5 cm scratch mark on the top edge. This is at the sleeve opening area. There is a very small crease & light stain on the bottom flipback on the rear sleeve. This is at the spine area. There are two very small bits or rubbing wear on the spine. This is near the bottom. Otherwise, the spine is very nice & clean. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. This is mainly on the front sleeve. Very Good++ condition.

Vinyl: There are a few light or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild dull surface marks on some areas. These are mainly on the dead wax area on Side 4. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. NEAR EXCELLENT condition.  The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Very Good yo Very Good+ overall, & Near Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some places. There are a couple of mild clicks on both sides. This LP would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Visually the disc looks in Very Near Excellent condition. Therefore, any crackle is just due to microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. It would play, I believe, Excellent and better after a professional clean. It would remove any crackle or clicks.

    >>  Grading Information All grading is very strict & adheres to 'Record Collector' specifications. However, I have fine tuned them & they are explained below. All vinyl is examined closely under a strong light & play tested.

MINT Condition = As good as a copy you would buy from a shop, immaculate!

NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, maybe a couple of very, very light paper sleeve scuffs that can only be seen under strong light. SOME WOULD CLASS THIS AS MINT. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. Cover is virtually perfect - very minimal wear only.

EX Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows virtually no defects. Maybe one or two light needle scuffs or light sleeve removal marks that can only be seen under strong light. There will be no scratches. Play will be near perfect with no distortion. Cover will be very nice with maybe very minimal creasing, ringwear or edgewear.

NEAR EX Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only; that barely detract from the sound quality. Cover may have slight creasing or ringwear. A very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.

VG Condition = A well played but serviceable copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears. The record will not be trashed!!
>>  Postage Rates

AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT TO YOU VERY SOON AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. PLEASE WAIT FOR THIS BEFORE PAYING.

Royal Mail have very recently increased their postage rates. So I have revised my postage costs to reflect their increases. (Please note that these prices include packaging costs too)

DISCOUNT WILL BE GIVEN ON POSTAGE FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS. SEE PRICES ABOVE.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7". I use a cruciform box for larger orders (4-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 2-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).

I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...

Sorry, I only accept Paypal, or money sent in a registered letter from overseas buyers.

If you are uncertain about any of the above, or just simply want some information regarding any item, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome any questions.

Remember to check out My Other Items Lots of rare & quality vinyl! Most are UK 1st Pressings. It is quite likely that there will be more records by this artist, or records in a similar vein.
