ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This handsome and famous LP from RCA (VICS-1007, German Teldec · Telefunken-Decca pressing, red/silver label – ED1, stereo) features Kiril Kondrashin's legendary RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra recordings of music by Russian composers, all brilliantly recorded in the rich acoustics of Manhattan Center, New York on 29/30 October 1958 (producer: Richard Mohr; engineer: Lewis Layton).
There is an extraordinary frisson to these justly famous performances that have arguably never been surpassed on record, the sound rich, sumptuous, and glittering – one of the great LPs from the 'Golden Age of Stereo'. The excellent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket are by noted critic Louis Biancolli. The striking cover art on the front is uncredited.

Incidentally, there are fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket in English (by Vincent Sheean), as well as in French and German (uncredited).
CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the front laminated jacket is EXCELLENT. There is slight bumping/wear at corners, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other defects, and the album remains solid, bright, and highly attractive in appearance – overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT (Capriccio Espagnol) / EXCELLENT (Capriccio Italien). There are a few minuscule soft tics at the opening of the Capriccio Italien, and perhaps 2-3 more later in the work, but otherwise, the sound is superb, as it is throughout the Capriccio Espagnol. Those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.
