Description
This is an RCA Treasury LP LCT-1145 with Serge Koussevitzky playing the double bass in six selections recorded in 1929 with Pierre Luboshutz, piano. This is the only release of all the recordings made in 1929 by Koussevitsky on the double bass, with which he was a virtuoso in the early 20th century. Several were issued in a vinylite 78 RPM album that is even rarer than this LP. Note by Olga Koussevitzky. This record was in Canfield 2000 at $100 but is far rarer now, especially in this excellent condition. Side 2 has Koussevitzky's 1936 recording of Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Overture. Since listing this, I find it has a 1/4" scratch on Side 1 Band l. Therefore am reducing the price.
