Detailed Description:
Large Low Grade Lot of 11 LP Records
Record Condition: G to VG- (LOW GRADE)
Large lot of 11 low grade classic rock records. Make no mistake these are well used records and will play with issues. Some records have one good playable side, one is warped, some play with notable surface noise and skips. I have done my best to describe condition. If you are looking for very good playable records you should look elsewhere. All records have been cleaned, visually inspected, and some sides playgraded. Records are in the G to VG- condition range based on grading criteria listed below. Lot includes all records as pictured.
1. Allman Brothers Band - At Fillmore East (Capricorn Double LP Release). Visually inspected and playgraded. LP1: Visually, notable surface markings on both sides. Played and noted some surface noise, one skip on S1/T1, one skip on S1/T3 and a few skips on S4/T1. Overall, a below average condition record. I grade LP1 as a VG- condition record. LP2: Visually, notable surface markings on both sides. Played and noted moderate surface noise, one repeatable skip on Side 2, and no skips on Side 3. Below average condition record. I grade LP2 as a VG- condition record. Gatefold Cover: Below average condition (G) with more than average wear noted (seam splitting). Inner gatefold colour/condition look good as shown (ring wear noted). Inner sleeve: Capricorn paper sleeves as shown, not significant.
2. Beatles - A Hard Day's Night (United Artists Mono Release). Visually inspected and playgraded. Visually, significant surface markings on both sides. Played and noted surface noise, one brief skip on S1/T1, one brief skip on S1/T2 and one brief skip on S1/T3. No other skips noted on Side 1. Side 2 plays with some notable surface noise and no skips. It plays better than it looks but due to surface markings considered a well below average condition record. I grade this as a G (Very Low Grade) condition record. Cover: Below average condition (G) with more than average wear noted (seam splitting). Inner sleeve: Not significant.
3. Beatles - Abbey Road (Apple Release). Visually inspected and playgraded. Visually, surface markings on both sides. Played both sides and noted moderate surface noise and no skips on any of the tracks. It plays better than it looks. An average sounding record. Due to visual surface markings downgrading this to a VG- condition record. Cover: Average condition (VG) with basic wear and tear. Inner sleeve: Not significant.
4. Bob Dylan - Self-Portrait (Columbia Double LP Release). Visually inspected. Notable to significant surface markings on all four sides. Well below average condition record album set. I grade these records in the G to VG- condition range. Gatefold Cover: Below average condition (G) with more than average wear noted (seam splitting). Inner gatefold colour/condition look good as shown. Inner sleeves: Columbia paper sleeves as shown, not significant.
5. Donny Hathaway - Live (ATCO Release). Visually inspected. Notable surface markings on both sides. Below average condition record album. I grade this as a VG- condition record. Gatefold Cover: Average condition (VG) with basic wear and tear. Inner gatefold colour/condition look good as shown. Inner sleeve: Atlantic paper sleeve as shown, not significant.
6. Janis Joplin - I Got Dem ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama (Columbia Release). Visually inspected. Notable to significant surface markings on both sides. Well below average condition record album. I grade this record in the G to VG- condition range. Cover: Below average condition (G) with more than average wear noted (seam split on top of cover). Inner sleeve: Not significant.
7. Janis Joplin - Pearl (Columbia Release). Visually inspected. Significant surface markings on both sides. Well below average condition record album. I grade this record in the G to VG- condition range. Cover: Missing and not included in this listing. Inner sleeve: Not significant.
8. Elvis Presley - Burning Love and Hits from His Movies (RCA Victor Stereo Release). Visually inspected. Side 1: Notable surface marking that spans Tracks 2 and 3. Played both of these tracks and did not note anything significant (few "ticks" and no skips). All other Side 1 tracks look clean. Due to surface markings noted, downgrading Side 1 to a VG- condition album side. Side 2 looks clean with no notable issues. I grade Side 2 as a VG+ condition album side. Cover: Average condition (VG) with basic wear and tear. Inner sleeve: RCA paper sleeve as shown, not significant.
9. Neil Young - After the Gold Rush (Reprise Release). Visually inspected. Notable surface markings on both sides. Below average condition record album. I grade this as a VG- condition record. Gatefold Cover: Average condition (VG) with basic wear and tear. Inner gatefold colour/condition look good as shown. Inner sleeve: Not significant.
10. The Rolling Stones - It's Only Rock and Roll (Rolling Stones Record Release). Visually inspected and playgraded. Side 1: Visually, some surface markings. Played and noted surface noise, multiple skips noted at beginning of Track 1, one skip on Track 2, no skips on Tracks 3 and 4 (tracks play clean), and multiple skips noted at beginning of Track 5. Due to skips, considered a well below average condition album side. I grade Side 1 as a G condition album side. Side 2: Visually, light to moderate surface markings. Played and noted moderate to light surface noise and no skips on any of the Side 2 tracks. Slightly above average condition album side. I grade Side 2 in the VG to VG+ condition range. Cover: Average condition (VG) with basic wear and tear. Inner sleeve: Original as shown, average condition.
11. Yes - Close to the Edge (Atlantic Release). Visually inspected and playgraded. Side 1: Visually, few surface markings. Played and noted warp. Warp does seem to affect playback, didn't note any skipping but there is some slight distortion on playback of some of the tracks. Side 2: Similar to Side 1. Visually, few surface markings. Played and noted warp. Warp does seem to affect playback, didn't note any skipping but there is some slight distortion on playback of some of the tracks. Due to warp, downgrading this record and I grade this LP in the G to VG- condition range. Gatefold Cover: Average condition (VG) with basic wear and tear. Inner gatefold colour/condition look good as shown. Inner sleeve: Original as shown, above average condition.
Records listed have been cleaned using a Nitty Gritty 1.5 cleaning system.
I do my best to be fair and honest with my record grading assessments. I will provide as much detail as possible to give potential buyers everything they need to know about the product(s) you are bidding on. I inspect and grade all vinyl by either listening to or visually inspecting under bright lighting. If play graded, it will be noted. Major anomalies will be noted. Bid with confidence as returns are accepted.
Vinyl Grading Classification:
(SS) Still Sealed = Sealed in original shrink wrap. Anomalies (Saw cuts, cut-out holes, creases, etc.) will be noted.
(NM) Near Mint = A superb LP record that is nearly perfect. No visible defects, appears to be new, except without the sealed shrink wrap. A good description of a NM record is ?It looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time.?
(EX) Excellent = An LP record that is very close to (NM) with minor defects allowed.
(VG+) Very Good Plus = An LP record that has been played, but well cared for. It may show light wear, such as light scratches or scuffs.
(VG) Very Good = An LP record that exhibits signs of use. Limited scuffs and scratches causing moderate surface noise that will be evident upon playing. Defects should not overpower the music.
(VG-) Very Good Minus = An LP record considered acceptable. The record will play through but with significant surface noise and possible skips. Well used vinyl.
(G) Good = An LP record marginally acceptable. LP exhibits visible scratches, significant skips/jumps and bad surface noise.
Note: I do not sell records below a 'Good' rating unless collectible.
Cover Grading Classification:
(NM) Near Mint = LP cover has no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable defects. No cut-out holes, either. The same is true for any inserts, posters, lyric sleeves and the like.
(EX) Excellent = LP cover very close to NM, minor defects allowed.
(VG+) Very Good Plus = LP cover may have slight signs of wear and may also be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. Inner sleeve and will have some moderate wear, and may have lightly turned up corners.
(VG) Very Good = LP cover may have light to moderate ring wear, some tape, stickers, glue, writing, a small seam split, but not all of these defects. Too many of these types of defects will degrade the cover to a Good (G) classification.
(G) Good = LP cover shows signs of significant wear that includes seam splits (especially at the bottom or on the spine) and worn corners. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
(F) Fair = LP cover that barely holds and protects the record. LP cover may include (but not all) the following defects: marred by wear, writing, water damage, seam splits on all three sides, inner sleeve seams splits, crinkled and written upon. If it is a common LP cover/sleeve, you'll need to find another copy in better shape to replace it.
