LAVERN, WHOSE "SOUL ON FIRE" IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE FIRST MODERN "SOUL" BALLADS (NOT TO MENTION, INCLUDED IN THE 1987 MOVIE "ANGELHEART" FOR THE CRUCIAL SCENE - BUT WE ARE NOT GOING TO TELL YOU --- GO SEE THE MOVIE) DEFINED THE ENTIRE GENRE, AND THE VERY TERM: SOUL SINGER.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+ . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.  (the inner sleeve is a little ruffled, but present and complete)

(c)           The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Light discoloration (color fading) noted along the spine and the top seam

-        Cover has a tiny, barely visible cutout hole in one of the corners

-         Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2.

-         Minor dusty stain noted on a small section of the back panel near the opening (less than 1/2 square inch in size)

-         Cover has two corners slightly worn / dinged  / bent.

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the top seam (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams  (yet)

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No wrinkles or creases
