Belfast producer Phil Kieran returns to his Le Carousel alias a full decade after its cult debut as trades the blunt physicality of his techno work for something far more cinematic and wayward, a ten track electronic song cycle that wanders through kosmische drift and synth pop shimmer. Kieran, long respected for both DJ craft and film scoring, lets the arrangements breathe and fills the frame with analogue glow, soft motorik movement and vocals that hover somewhere between dream diary and end-of-the-world postcard. 'Light The Flare' and 'The Good One' arrive early with bright-eyed synth hooks and baggy rhythm and sound faintly like Andrew Weatherall mischievously rewiring Primal Scream in a cosmic laboratory. At the centre, 'We're All Gonna Hurt' unfolds patiently with blurred pads carrying a bruised and late-night tenderness. 'Echo Spiegel' and 'Parabolic' then drift deeper into kosmische circuitry, while 'Goodbye My Friends' and 'You're Killing Me Inside' close the curtain in woozy, star-dusted melancholy.
