Just to put things in historical perspective: When this gorgeous 10-incher was issued in 1950, Joe Stalin was still in power in Moscow; Truman was US president; People's Republic of China was 1 (one) year old, Beatles were minus 8 years old, Miles (as in “Davis”) were  distance measurement units, Marilyn Monroe was an obscure and aspiring, young, ginger-haired actress; James Dean was an unknown.  12" Long-Play album was just invented a few months earlier. Polio vaccine was about seven years away,  etc, etc.  You get the idea.

This, then, is simply a piece of US history. Not music history, not blues history, and not art history. Just plain US - and world - history. 

What makes this blues album so highly valuable is the confluence of different factors,  of which probably the most important is the fact that these are the songs of SEX, LUSTFUL DESIRE AND FLESH (not necessarily in that order) which are performed for "race" audience. Consequently, press run of this album was minuscule, probably less than 500, if even

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+(+) . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)   [NOTE: light groove wear (dilated grooves, most likely from the use of improper stylus noted on one track: "Yellow Gal"]

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        One corner of the cover has been completely knocked off (separated) and was indelicately reattached by the previous owner (NO PART OF THE COVER IS MISSING)

-        Cover has all three seams (top, bottom and spine) partially split,  as follows:

-        Top seam: between 1 and 2 inches  / 2.5 to 5 centimeters.

-        Bottom seam: less than 1 inch / 2.5 centimeters.

-        Bottom seam: between 2 and 4 inches  / 5 to 10 centimeters.

-        Cover has a small peel-off mark, probably from the careless removal of the price sticker.  (less than ¼ square inch in size)

-        Cover has some writing on its back side (name of the previous owner written in blue ballpoint pen, about ½ x 1. 1/2 inches in size; partially peeled-off)

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging  (nothing significant).

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)

-         Cover has three corners slightly worn / dinged / bent. (nothing significant)

-         Cover has a small quality control (inspection) stamp on the back panel

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No wrinkles or creases

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
