Leaf Hound 'Growers Of Mushrooms'
12" Acetate/Demo/sample Disk Decca Recording: Cat No:SKL R5094  (1970)
Incredible Rare Album and One Of The Most Sought After and Collectable Albums, This Metal Acetate Disc Is Very Collectable in any Condition! Metal Acetate Demo/Test Disc!

I am selling this acetate and a few other acetates on behalf of a friend. For any vinyl collectors out there would probably know that the original vinyl copy of this album is probably and arguably one of the most sought after and collectable rock albums.  Incredibly rare and collectable in any condition. Here on offer is a genuine Acetate recording of the Leaf hound  Growers Of Mushrooms album. I am selling this disk as an acetate. As it is, and nothing else, because I do not know the original history of this item.
Important Please note: I do not know the early history or background to this acetate and I can not state and do not state, that this was an original that was used to demo the first recordings of this album. The only thing that I can confirm is that it is an acetate. Noted for their familier pungent smell (only found on acetates) also this disk is very heavy.
These acetates were used to demonstrate recordings to disk and are not meant or designed to be played many times.
I have played the disk throughout and recorded the complete album so that you can hear this for yourself in the player below. It is noted that there are surface marks/scratches on the disc and a small dent/dig noted on the playing surface but fortunately these have little if no effect on the absolutely stunning audio quality of the disc there are no loud constant clicks or pops and no distortion as I heard it in my personal opinion. Static background/crackle/ is noted /heard during isolated quiet places and in between tracks (common on metal acetates) but overall a very enjoyable and playable disc.

Hear the complete recording of the disc in the player below! Actual recording from the disc!

Leaf Hound is an English 1960s/1970s hard rock band. The group has been cited as a major influence on the stoner rock movement.

Leaf Hound formed in 1969 under their original name, Black Cat Bones. Early incarnations of the Black Cat Bones featured guitarist Paul Kossoff and drummer Simon Kirke who both left to form Free.

Black Cat Bones issued one album for Decca Records entitled Barbed Wire Sandwich. They replaced their vocalist shortly after releasing the album, adding Peter French to the line-up. Guitarist Rod Price departed soon after to join Foghat and French added his cousin Mick Halls on guitar. Soon afterwards, Black Cat Bones changed their name to Leaf Hound. At this point the band consisted of French on vocals, Halls on guitar, the Brooks brothers, Derek and Stuart, on guitar and bass respectively, and Keith George-Young on drums.

Growers of Mushroom was recorded at Spot Studios in Mayfair, London in late 1970.

Shortly after the Brooks brothers departed and Ron Thomas filled in on bass. The band toured Europe as a four-piece and released the "Drowned My Life in Fear" single and the Leaf Hound album in Germany on Telefunken. The Growers of Mushroom album was released shortly after (featuring all of the tracks on the self-titled album) but by this time French had already departed to join Atomic Rooster for their album In Hearing Of. French would also later join American hard rock band Cactus.

Growers of Mushroom is the first album by British hard rock band Leaf Hound. The album reportedly took only 11 hours to record in Mayfair's Spot Studios. It has become a much-sought-after LP by collectors (a mint condition copy sold for $4329.00 USD in March 2016). Growers of Mushroom became a collectors item in the years to come and was voted the number one most collectible rock album in Q magazine.

This is the only album by the classic Leaf Hound line-up.

A few months after recording it, the group disbanded, but re-united in 2004, thirty-three years later.

The Disc This is a thick and heavy 12" acetate disc. The disc lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping. Visually I see some light surface marks /scratches and a  dent/dig mark noted on the playing surface. But fortunately nothing that would cause or caused any loud constant clicks or pops or indeed any skips or jumps. Note: I can confirm that this is a metal acetate disc. There are no markings or matrix numbers stamped or etched on the run off grooves.

The Audio Quality The audio is clear and very vibrant throughout. A real raunchy rock sound produced. Note: This is a stereo recording. There are no loud constant clicks or pops and certainly no skips or jumps. Overall a superb sounding disc. The audio is rich and very vibrant throughout. Note: Static crackle/ticks is noted, heard in quieter places and indeed perhapes heard at some intros and in between tracks, (common on metal acetates) but during the main audio sounds absolutely stunning!  There is no distortion or signs that this has been overplayed. Audio graded at least excellent to excellent plus in my opinion! (light static crackle heard in quiet places common on acetates) Hear the recording for your self in the player provided above remember this is a metal acetate for demonstration perposes and was not meant to be played many times.
The record sleeve This is a Decca serpier blue/white stereo poly lined paper sleeve no splits or tears becoming fragile with age only.
The disk is also house in a plain white card sleeve (See Photos)
