This vinyl is in fantastic condition and has maybe been played only the once judging by the total lack of spindle wear and the immaculate quality of the audio. The cover and inner are also in superb condition. A stunning album that is practically 'as new'.

Visual grading
This vinyl has an immaculate mirror-like glossy sheen and I'm not sure if I have ever seen better. It is stunning! I can only detect one mega small barely visible spindle trace on each label and it is clear that this vinyl has hardly been played. There are only a couple of very faint hairlines on each side and there are no scratches or markings. It is a fantastic example and the labels and run out groove are supremely clean. It doesn't get much better than this and as detailed below the audio is more than a match for its visual quality.
Play grading
The opening few grooves are always prone to interference and especially on a record that is now 43 years old. I am delighted to say the super quiet intro on 'Achilles Last Stand' plays with wonderful precision and no obvious 'background' at all. From then on it plays to a standard that can only be described 'as new'. It is absolutely stunning! The clarity and depth is equal to that of an unplayed record and as mentioned above this may be just that! I play every second so as to provide a comprehensive grading and there is just no interference whatsoever. There is no distortion on the top end plus there is no 'muddiness' to the sound i.e. every note can be heard with perfect precision. Page's work is so strong and as for Bonham - you won't hear a finer example of why he is regarded by many as the greater drummer that ever lived. The percussion here is so powerful. An immaculate Mint version if ever there was one. Even the fade out plays perfectly.
'For Your Life' I am happy to report is of the same sublime standard. This track exemplifies Jones' work and oh boy is the bass powerful here! It adds so much depth to the track. There is no interference, not even a single dust tick and again this provides a classic example of why audio is best heard on vinyl, it has such warmth and depth on a beautifully preserved record such as this. Another Mint track without question.
'Royal Orleans' is as good as you could wish it to be. There is some of the usual inner groove distortion but it is kept to a minimum due to the vinyl being so clean and perhaps never played before. It still plays with superb power and depth and again no clicks or pops etc. A very impressive end to the side.
-----------------------------------------------------
I am trying hard not to over-exaggerate the 'as new' audio but this is the most immaculate intro to 'Nobody's Fault But Mine' that I have heard in a long time. It is as 'clean' as when first released back in '76. No 'background' of any kind and it continues to play in the same precise way. Of course there are a number of momentary silent sections on this track and there is no interference in any of them! The sonic quality here is unrivalled and the harmonica section is just immaculate. The depth of the audio from start to finish is 'high end' and again the bass is so deep and rich and Page's solo towards the end has never sounded better.
Both 'Candy Store Rock' and 'Hots On For Nowhere' play to the same exacting standard and from the first groove to the last there is no interference and qualify as Mint once more. This is quite simply audio you just don't tire of!
The intro on 'Tea For One' provides another fine example of an unplayed vinyl. From the opening riff to the slower more mellow section the clarity is just out of this world! There is not even a dust tick let alone anything more. As the vocal comes in I heard just one solitary second of static! As it continues the clarity is exceptional and for a track with so many quiet sections you cannot fail but be impressed by the quality of the audio here. There are a small number of mega light ticks during Page's long solo but they are so quiet and totally non-intrusive. I am sure most would not even mention this and they are easily missed believe me! As Plant comes back in again the audio is back to its very best and to the very end it plays with sublime quality and no 'background'. Despite the minor ticks (more like dust ticks) this is the one of the cleanest versions of this classic that you are ever likely to hear. It is stunning and provides a scintillating end to this album.
In summary this FINAL UPGRADE archive first press plays with a clarity and definition that is second to none. This is audio that is nigh on perfect throughout and there is not one intrusive click or pop. The vinyl is visually stunning 'as new' in fact and the gatefold whilst not quite perfect is a superb example of it type.
The Gatefold
This predominantly white gatefold has lost none of its original colour and is in great condition. The front cover has only very minimal fading around the edges and the back cover just a little more by the bottom edge but is still only minor. Aside from that the cover has no other marking and the inside is immaculate. As it is a 'first press' cover it has the embossed band name and title on the front cover and the embossed 'Apollo' logo on the back. The top edges have no shelf wear at all and the bottom edges have only a hint of rubbing near the right hand corners. The corners themselves have hardly any rubbing and the wide spine is in superb shape with only a couple of tiny barely visible marks, hardly worth a mention! The opening edge has no handling wear either.
Overall a fine example of this cover and there will not be many around today as 'clean' as this. It has been extremely well preserved down the years and easily deserves an Ex+ grading.
Inner Sleeve
This is in perfect condition with no splits or tears and no discolouration, how rare is that?! It is a fantastic example and is rarely seen in this condition when you consider it is made of fine paper. There is no creasing either.
The Labels
The 'Swan Song' labels are 'as new' with no marking/writing and as mentioned barely any visible spindle wear.
