On December 10, 2007, Led Zeppelin took the stage at London’s O2 Arena to headline a tribute concert for dear friend and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. What followed was a two-hour-plus tour de force of the band’s signature blues-infused rock ’n’ roll that instantly became part of the legend of Led Zeppelin. Founding members John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant were joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham, to perform 16 songs from their celebrated catalog including landmark tracks “Whole Lotta Love,” “Rock And Roll,” “Kashmir,” and “Stairway To Heaven.” ...........

10. Dezember 2007 - von diesem Tag hatten Led Zeppelin-Fans weltweit seit Jahren geträumt: die Rocklegende gab ein abendfüllendes Reunion-Konzert in der Londoner O2-Arena. Seit dem tragischen Tod des Led Zeppelin-Schlagzeuges John Bonham im September 1980, der zur Auflösung der Band führte, kam es lediglich zweimal zu gemeinsamen Auftritten der übrigen Mitglieder unter dem Namen Led Zeppelin (1985 beim Live Aid Festival mit Phil Collins am Schlagzeug und 1988 mit John Bonhams Sohn Jason zum 40jährigen Jubiläum von Atlantic Records). Unter Fans wurden beide allerdings eher kritisch gesehen. Anders das Reunion-Konzert 2007, das zum Andenken des im Vorjahr verstorbenen (und vor allem in Jazzkreisen bekannten) Atlantic Records-Gründer Ahmet Ertegün stattfand. Led Zeppelin nahmen das Konzert sehr ernst, begannen beinahe ein Jahr vorher mit den Proben. Am Schlagzeug saß erneut Jason Bonham, der wohl einzige von den Fans akzeptierte Nachfolger John Bonhams. Led Zeppelin wollten wieder als richtige Band auftreten. Das ihnen das gelungen ist, davon zeugt das vorliegende Livealbum. Voller Energie und Enthusiasmus spielen sie sich durch ihr Schaffenswerk, neben bekannten Klassikern wie natürlich "Stairway To Heaven", "Whole Lotta Love" oder "Kashmir", stehen auch Nummern wie "Nobody's Fault But Mine" oder "For Your Life" auf der Setlist. Allein am perfekten Sound der Aufnahme ist anzumerken, daß das Konzert nicht schon in den 70ern stattgefunden haben kann. Spielerisch jedenfalls sind Led Zeppelin die Jahre nicht anzumerken. Trotz alledem ist wohl nicht geplant, weitere Auftritte folgen zu lassen. Zu entschieden hat sich Robert Plant bislang dagegen ausgesprochen. Die anderen drei - allen voran Jimmy Page - haben jedoch durchaus ihr Interesse bekundet. Umso erfreulicher, daß nun das vielleicht einzige Led Zeppelin-Reunionkonzert in ansprechender Qualität und liebevoller Aufmachung vorliegt. Es heißt, 20 Millionen Menschen hätten versucht, Karten für das Konzert zu bekommen, doch nur 18.000 erhielten eine im Losverfahren. Jetzt bietet sich für jeden die Gelegenheit, das Konzert zu erleben - in den eigenen vier Wänden. ...........
