Houses of the Holy follows the same basic pattern as Led Zeppelin IV, but the approach is looser and more relaxed. Jimmy Page's riffs rely on ringing, folky hooks as much as they do on thundering blues-rock, giving the album a lighter, more open atmosphere. While the pseudo-reggae of "D'Yer Mak'er" and the affectionate James Brown send-up "The Crunge" suggest that the band was searching for material, they actually contribute to the musical diversity of the album. "The Rain Song" is one of Zep's finest moments, featuring a soaring string arrangement and a gentle, aching melody. "The Ocean" is just as good, starting with a heavy, funky guitar groove before slamming into an a cappella section and ending with a swinging, doo wop-flavored rave-up. With the exception of the rampaging opening number, "The Song Remains the Same," the rest of Houses of the Holy is fairly straightforward, ranging from the foreboding "No Quarter" and the strutting hard rock of "Dancing Days" to the epic folk/metal fusion "Over the Hills and Far Away." Throughout the record, the band's playing is excellent, making the eclecticism of Page and Robert Plant's songwriting sound coherent and natural.
(EXCERPT FROM AN ONLINE REVIEW BY STEPHEN THOMAS ERLEWINE, ALL MUSIC GUIDE /ALLMUSIC.COM/)
You wouldn't think this is a very hard album to find, what with all the millions of copies it sold. But wait, there is a catch: In 1973, Atlantic label had just merged with Warner Brothers, Elektra and Asylum into the world-wide marketing powerhouse named WEA (WEA being the acronym of the four labels), and was in the process of changing the layout of its label (and company’s address), literally as the album was being placed into production. As a result, only a minuscule number of the copies of the original print - probably less than 2% - came out on the original ATLANTIC label WITHOUT WEA LOGO on the label. We proudly present one such specimen here. .
This also happens to be the very last Zep album to be issued on Atlantic label – all subsequent releases (Physical Graffiti; The Song Remains the Same; Presence; In through the out door; and Coda) were released on the band's proprietary "Swan Song" label.
Originally dismissed as a departure from their original style, the album aged with grace, and we don't think it would be farfetched to say that is one of the top-4 Led Zep studio albums ever (right up there with Zep I, IV and Physical Graphiti).

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) WE GRADE THE VINYL AS NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs - are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible, and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.
(b) The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(c) The record comes in its original, custom, inner sleeve, which is UNIQUE to this album.
(d) The album comes with the original OBI-like sash included.
(e) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
