Description
Up for auction is a very interesting COVER variant of LED ZEPPELINS classic first album (SD 19126). The common and well-known orange lettering of the bands' name in the upper left hand corner of the front COVER as well as the ATLANTIC logo on the bottom right hand side are in YELLOW ink! The famous Chris Dreja photo of the band on the back panel is also in YELLOW. I think that the printer just made a mistake here or ran out of magenta colour. Anyway, a nice mis-pressing and a rare find for any LED ZEP completist who's got all the different copies of LED ZEPPELIN I including the famous UK 1st pressing with turquoise lettering! This copy is a mid 1970ies US pressing, bearing the ‘1841 Broadway, New York, New York 10023' address and NO barcode. The COVER comes in it's original, but opened up shrinkwrap. The COVER appears to be in NEAR MINT- condition, i.e. NO cut-out or drill hole, NO creasing, NO unwanted writing, NO seam splitting, etc.. Only the bottom right corner is slightly bumped - nothing serious though!
Both sides of the vinyl RECORD show signs of play & handling. PLAYBACK of the album is VERY GOOD- with the occasional click and minor crackling throughout. I stick to the 'RECORD COLLECTOR' grading system (please see below).
Both record LABELS are in EXCELLENT condition!
The record comes with its' original printed Atlantic INNER SLEEVE advertising ‘ATLANTIC, ATCO, COTILLION AND CUSTOM LABELS' records. It's very nice and in NEAR MINT- condition!
The album will be mailed to the lucky winner in a stiff record box with extra cardboard stiffeners for best possible protection! The experience and fun of buying records on eBay is ruined if you discover that - once the album arrives - they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I try to describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging. Please see my excellent feedback especially in terms of packaging! My records are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
GRADING GUIDE:
MINT: The Record Itself Is In Brand New Condition With No Surface Marks Or Deterioration In Sound Quality. The Cover And Any Extra Items Such As The Lyric Sheet, Booklet Or Poster Are In Perfect Condition. Records Advertised, As Sealed Or Unplayed Should Be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The Record Shows Some Signs Of Having Been Played, But There Is Very Little Lessening In Sound Quality. The Cover And Packaging Might Have Slight Wear And / Or Creasing.
VERY GOOD: The Record Has Obviously Been Played Many Times, But Displays No Major Deterioration In Sound Quality, Despite Noticeable Surface Marks And The Occasional Light Scratch. Normal Wear And Tear On The Cover Or Extra Items, Without Any Major Defects, Is Acceptable.
