Description

I will declare a lower amount on the customs form for all countries so as to avoid/decrease high import charges.  However, in the case of the EU all purchases are subject to VAT which eBay collect at point of sale.  No shipping to Russia currently.   Led Zeppelin I A1 / B1 2nd Press Red / Plum Version 6 1969
This second pressing on the red / plum label plays to a very high standard with very little intrusion.  I have played every track in full (as usual) and the clarity, power and definition of the audio is stunning for the vast majority - even better there are no ticks, clicks or pops and the only background really is a minimal amount of light background static on S1 and a little more static on the 'Your Time Is Gonna Come' intro on S2, something that is very common.  S1 is still very impressive and S2 apart from the intro plays with stunning quality.  'I Can't Quit You Baby' for example is one of the best versions I have ever heard and 'How Many More Times' is another highlight also.
The laminated cover with the grey strip along the bottom edge is stunning!  It is easily one of the cleanest I have ever seen and the only 'fault' really is some laminate lift next to the spine.  The original Plastic Bags... inner (dated 09 9) is in excellent shape also.    This is known as a second red / plum pressing and is recognised as Version 6 on Discogs.  It has the Warner Bros / 7 Arts... publishing credits printed in one line on both labels.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition with a strong glossy sheen and no marks or scratches.  It looks so clean under 'normal' lighting and it's only when you hold it at a certain angle under a bright light that you can see some hairlines.  S1 is actually very clean with not too many but there are some more swirly ones on one section of S2 that are a little more obvious.  However, they are purely superficial as they have no impact on the audio.  As stated there are no marks or scratches and there is no groove, surface wear or 'bag rash' either.  The run out grooves are super clean and the iconic red / plum Atlantic labels have very little spindle wear on S1 and just a bit more on S2.
Play Grading
The intro on 'Good Times Bad Times' plays with great clarity and power and Plant's opening vocal section is strong and clear with barely any of the static distortion that you so often find.  The first chorus is perfect and the next verse is close to that with only a hint of barely audible static at the start.  From then on it plays so well and Page's solo is stunning.  The closing vocal / fade out is more or less perfect and overall Near Mint- is deserved, a very strong start.   The acoustic intro on 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' has only a couple of minor statics and the first verse is very clean with only a minimal amount of background static in a couple of places but so quiet and totally non-intrusive.  The first up-tempo acoustic passage is flawless as is the next vocal and you can easily hear the baby cry around the 1.40 mark.  The next instrumental is nigh on perfect and the following high octane passage is superb with no distortion on the top end.  It continues to play with great quality - every note is so clean and precise and the clarity, depth and power is very impressive.  The powerful sections in particular because they are so 'busy' and there is just no distortion.  There is barely any static during the quieter 'moments' and even the very quiet acoustic end piece has only very minimal light static.  The vast majority is again Near Mint- with only the end section grading as Ex+
The intro and Plant's opening vocal on 'You Shook Me' has no interference as such and only a minor touch of static for a couple of moments.  The more you get into this opening section the better it gets!  Jones' bass adds so much sonically, it is so strong and deep, and the Hammond organ solo has only some light background static here and there and again it is hardly intrusive.  The harmonica section is superb and then Page's solo is similar with only minimal background static.  The final vocal is very clean and the high octane 'part' plays very clearly indeed.  There are no ticks, clicks or pops but overall I think Ex+ is about right but perhaps with some sections grading higher.
The bass intro on 'Dazed And Confused' plays with great depth and clarity and the opening vocal is equal to that.  Page's first introduction is stunning and the following vocal has no intrusion either.  The first powerful passage is dynamic and there is no distortion.  It continues to play with genuine quality and the quieter almost psychedelic passage plays very clearly with only minimal light static - it is intermittent and very quiet.  The instrumental with Bonham, Jones and Page going ballistic is STUNNING!  The power and definition of the audio is up there with the best I have heard - wow!  The next 'riff' is perfect and the final vocal / instrumental play with exceptional quality also.  The Oh oh... vocal at the end is flawless!  Another Near Mint- track.

The organ intro on 'Your Time Is Gonna Come' is well known for its static!  There is some here but there are no ticks, clicks or pops.  As Bonham and then Page come in the audio is superb and the first verse and chorus play perfectly.  The instrumental bridge is faultless and the next vocal / chorus has no intrusion either.  This extended chorus actually ends the track with no background at all.  The intro is VG but from then onwards it has to grade as Mint-
The segue / intro on 'Black Mountain Side' is 'as new' and it continues to impress.  The clarity of sound from the first note to the last is stunning and Mint is well deserved.  Yes they should have credited Bert Jansch but as for the quality of the music - spot on!
There is just a minor touch of static distortion on the 'Communication Breakdown' intro but then the opening vocal / chorus plays with great power and definition.  That familiar raw power is evident throughout and Page's mid solo is so strong and clear with none of that 'tinny' distortion that you so often find.  The final section is perfect as is the fade out.  Ex+ for the intro and Mint from then on.
The vocal only intro 'I Can't Quit You Baby' plays with stunning clarity and can hear the 'echo' affect so clearly.  The next vocal passage is just as impressive and it continues in the same precise way.  The first part of Page's solo is flawless and the brief stand alone section has only a minor amount of static distortion, barely any really.  A more understated Bonham throughout this classic but no less classy.  The next vocal section again has no ticks etc and you have to think how impressive that is because the majority is so darn quiet!  The closing section instrumental is so clean and again Mint- is an honest appraisal of the audio.  What a version!
The iconic bass intro on 'How Many More Times' is 'as new' (a rarity!) and Page first classic riff / Plant's opening vocal is so strong and clear and there is no distortion or interference.  It's 'busy' and yet the music is very defined with no 'muddiness' to the sound.  Page's first solo is very similar - a hint of static distortion as it builds but so so minimal.  The quiet section has only very light background static here and there but is in no way intrusive and as it builds the sonic quality is stunning.  As it reaches it's climax the playback is phenomenal and Jones' bass comes through so strong.  The Oh Rosie.. vocal is just perfect and the next high octane section has no intrusion either, Plant's vocal scream is immense!  The final vocal / riff section play so well with no discernible distortion - Page, Bonham and Jones finishing this all time classic with tremendous power and definition.  I'm tempted to say Mint- but perhaps Near Mint is closer to the mark.  Regardless it is one stunning version and will not disappoint.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The laminated cover is in superb condition with only minimal wear, definitely one of the best I have seen in all my years selling!  The edges are so clean as is the thin pinched spine which has only very minor compression in a couple of areas, hardly worth a mention.  The worst that could be said for all four corners?  They have a tiny 'rub' each.  The opening edge is pristine and the front cover is unbelievably clean and just has some laminate 'lift' next to the spine which is very common and one small crease on the airship.  The back cover is stunning with no issues really - if I had to say anything perhaps just some very slight rubbing along the top edge but overall this truly is a stunning example of this iconic cover.
The original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags...' inner is in excellent shape with so side splits or tears and very little marking.  It has some creasing but not an excessive amount.  It is dated 09 9 which refers to September '69 so definitely a very early one!

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
