LED ZEPPELIN II A6 / B4 Atlantic 58818 UK 1969 RED/PLUM Label
This later red/plum pressing has 'Killing Floor' on the label replacing 'The Lemon Song' on the earlier pressings. As detailed below the audio is absolutely immaculate and is the best red/plum pressing I have ever heard.

Visual grading
This vinyl is visually stunning. I have inspected it closely under a string bright light and all I can see is a handful of faint hairlines on S1 and S2 is absolutely immaculate. It has a wonderful glossy sheen and looks almost as new, no exaggeration. Yes there is some spindle wear but the previous owner looked after this vinyl with exceptional care. I may never see a red/plum pressing as good as this ever again!
Play grading
'Whole Lotta Love' plays with stunning audio from beginning to end, I don't think I have heard better. There is no interference and no distortion. The quieter sections (there aren't many!) play with sublime quality with not even a hint of static. A fabulous start. The quiet intro to 'What is and What Should Never Be' plays with near perfect precision and only two static sounds. After the first chorus there are a couple of clicks but the remainder plays with immaculate audio and no 'background'. Apart from the two clicks the track would easily grade as Near Mint such is the dynamic quality. 'Killing Floor' continues the impeccable audio and has no interference. This is audio of the highest order and is exactly how music should be heard. The middle bass section plays with sublime quality and I only heard a couple of dust ticks. For such a prolonged quiet section to play this well on a red/plum pressing is extremely rare. What can I say about 'Thank You'? It is quite possibly the best version I have ever heard on a red/plum vinyl. The clarity is first class and there is none of the distortion that is so common on this track. There is just a hint of static towards the end but the actual closing section plays as near to perfect as is possible. A fantastic end to a side full of Near Mint audio!
The classic 'Heart Breaker' has audio of impeccable quality again. There is perhaps a handful of dust ticks but you will get that even with new vinyl. The standard here is just incredible, the clarity and depth simply cannot be bettered. 'Livin' Lovin Maid' continues this immaculate standard with Mint audio there is no other way to grade it. There is no need to describe the remaining tracks as they all play with stunning audio end of. 'Ramble On' is a stunning highlight and I have never heard better. 'Moby Dick' is equal to that and the drum solo simply plays as new. I am running out of superlatives for this LP! 'Bring It On Home' ends this classic LP with sublime audio. A handful of dust ticks that is all but apart from that, mind-blowing breathtaking audio! Wow!!
In summary this a final upgrade, archive copy for certain. With only two clicks on S1 and practically no interference on S2 this is a vinyl of the finest quality. The clarity, depth and sonic quality is just up there with the best and I am not exaggerating by saying this audio is the best I have ever heard on a red/plum pressing.
Gatefold cover
The E.J. Day gatefold has some shelf wear although nothing major. It is mainly limited to the edges and corners where there is some rubbing. The spine is very clean and is 100% legible still. The front cover is very clean with only a very small amount of 'spotting' here and there. The back cover is also very clean but does have some ringwear and light spotting again. The inside of the gatefold is in immaculate condition with no marking at all. The opening edge is extremely clean and has barely any handling wear.
Inner sleeve
The poly-lined 'Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous' inner sleeve is in excellent condition with only one tiny split to one side. Aside from that it only has light creasing and some age related marking around the edges. It has Made in England and 0471 printed on one side.
The Labels
The red/plum labels are in superb shape with no writing or marking at all, just some spindle wear.
