German Double RL pressing with Bob Ludwig initials on Side One AND Side Two !!!

An ultimate Led Zeppelin rarity is up for sale here. Probably rarer than the turquoise debut and definitely rarer than an American RL pressing of LZ II. This one weh ave here is actually the German counterpart to the American RL pressing, namely a GERMAN DOUBLE RL PRESSING. Yes, you read that right: a German pressing, made in Germany with the Robert Ludwig initials on side A and B. In fact, American RL pressings are not that superrare, but it is really difficult to find one that is still in good condition e.g. near mint condition. This German double RL pressing is however simply impossible to find. The existence of this pressing was often even doubted, asin the SteveHoffmann forum (topic: “Is there really a double RL German Led Zeppelin II?” ?)e.g. The reason why this German double RL pressing hardly exists at all is not known to me personally. However, assumptions go in the direction that the B Laquers were damaged or that Germany also responded to the American recall, which mainly related to the B side cut. In any case, this could be the reason why German side A only RL pressings can be found. German pressings from the 60s and 70s are of very good quality and you can actually hear the difference in terms of detail compared to the American pressing. Hard to believe but true, there is even more bass in the German pressing and everything is even more in the red. This one is a actually a thick german Metronome pressing with an RL cut for he german market! For a while I tried to find more copies, the cover delivers a hint fort the german double RL, as it is a gatefold cover that has a very narrow spine. Here the cover differs from later German pressings, also the brown color saturation is different. However, my extensive search was unsuccessful and since I currently need money for another topic, I am now selling this unique gem. My guess is that a maximum of 1000 copies were pressed, which in turn would mean that only a handful should be left in near mint condition. The record here is in good to very good condition. Can be classified between VG- and VG+, excellent sound quality in loud passages and slight crackling in quiet passages. So it's still a lot of fun to hear the record, but be prepared that it is neither EX nor Near Mint. However, have fun finding a comparable copy ?. I believe that the record should benefit from professional cleaning. Nevertheless, there are hairline scratches that can no longer be washed away. The really wonderful laminated cover is still in excellent condition. This record is a piece of history and a true rare gem. There has some much written and said about this particular RL pressing and having alread wrote too much, I won’t get into this anny further as the sound of an RL pressing is just phenomenal.

Zum Verkauf steht hier eine ultimative Led Zeppelin Rarität. Vermutlich seltener als das türkise Debüt und definitiv seltener als eine amerikanische RL Pressung von LZ II. Denn hier haben wir tatsächlich das deutsche Gegenstück zur amerikanischen RL Pressung, nämlich eine DEUTSCHE DOPPEL RL PRESSUNG. Ja richtig gelesen: eine deutsche Pressung, hergestellt in Deutschland mit den Robert Ludwig Initialen auf Seite A und B. Tatsächlich sind amerikanische RL Pressungen gar nicht so mega selten, es ist aber dagegen schwierig eine zu finden, die sich annähernd in einem Near Mint Zustand befindet. Diese gehen mittlerweile für stolze Summen über den Ebay-Tisch. Die deutsche Doppel RL Pressung ist dagegen einfach unmöglich zu finden. An der Existenz dieser Pressung wurde vielfach sogar gezweifelt (siehe Steve Hofmann Forum: „Is there really a double RL German Led Zeppelin II?“). Der Grund, weshalb es diese deutsche Doppel RL Pressung so gut wie gar nicht gibt, ist mir persönlich nicht bekannt. Vermutungen gehen aber in die Richtung, dass die B Matrizen beschädigt wurden oder das man ebenfalls in Deutschland auf den amerikanischen Rückruf reagierte, der sich im Wesentlichen auf den B Seiten Cut bezog. Dies könnte jedenfalls begründen weshalb sich mehrfach deutsche Seite A only RL Pressungen finden lassen.  Meine nächste Vermutung ist, dass hiervon nicht mehr als 1000 Exemplare gepresst wurden, was wiederum bedeuten würde das nur noch eine handvoll in Near Mint Zustand übrig sein sollten. Die Platte hier befindet sich in einem guten bis sehr guten Zustand. Einzuordnen zwischen VG+ und VG- mit leichtem Knistern in ruhigen Passagen. Es macht somit immer noch jede Menge Spaß die Platte zu hören, aber man sich darauf gefasst machen, dass sie weder EX noch Near Mint ist. Viel Spaß jedoch bei der Suche nach einem vergleichbaren Exemplar. Ich gehe stark davon aus, dass die Platte von einer professionellen Reinigung profitieren sollte. Dennoch sind aber auch Haarlinien Kratzer vorhanden, die man bestimmt nicht mehr wegwaschen kann. Das laminierte Cover befindet sich einem sehr guten Zustand. Versand innerhalb Deutschland für 7,90.
