Description
Led Zeppelin 'III' on the Atlantic label catalogue number 2401 002 (stereo).
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side One: 2401002 A-5 1 2 1 1 'Do what thou wilt' GHC (please note all of this except the four individual numerals are handed etched) Side Two: 2401002 B-5 1 5 3 'So mote it be' GHC (please note all of this except the three numerals are hand etched)
This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. On Side One there are about six noticeable scratches, but I can't feel any of them, Side Two is similar. Both sides have other light wispy lines which can only be seen in a bright light. The record does not look as though it's been played a lot, it plays very smoothly all the way through, no skips, no sticks, no jumps. There's a little bit of crackle in the quiet parts but it sounds really great all the way through.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs (the labels on both sides are the same colour, they look a bit different in the photographs because of the changing lighting conditions). The labels show some spindle lines but not so many, no writing, no damage.
The cover is a gatefold type, it is coated with laminate all over the outside and the centre - it is made by the E J Day Group. In the front it has a rotating wheel which is loose because it has come off the centre pivot - it can still be turned and is probably repairable by a patient person who is good with their hands! Other than this loose wheel there's nothing much wrong with this cover, it's slightly off colour at the edges and it's got a few light indents (there's a small group of deeper ones on the back but they're not very noticeable). There is a little bit of wear on the edges and corners.
The spine is very nice and fully readable - nothing wrong with it at all.
The inner sleeve looks like the original but I can't be sure, it's in quite nice condition, just a little bit grubby with a 5 cm split at the centre of one seam and a 2 cm split at the top of the same seam, it has a polythene liner. I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say that the cover is 'very good' (mainly because of the loose wheel otherwise it would be a higher grade) and the record itself is better than 'very good' but not quite 'excellent'.
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a record mailing box (cruciform) with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
