The Vinyl
On visual initial inspection this vinyl looks absolutely superbe. Still retains its original glossy sheen from new!! This is the original heavier thicker type of vinyl with deeper grooves only found on these original 1st pressings!!! They are also more robust than later pressings which were more flimsier!!!! In strong light only can possibly be seen very light whispy sleeve removal marks\scuffs (Importantly there are no needle marks that cause any loud clicks or pops)
The Audio Quality
I have carefully played this through track for track as usual at very loud volume on a top system four times prior to listing! The audio seperation is amaizing and the vibrancy and bassey feel on this vinyl will never be surpassed in any other format, beleive me. This plays with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed at all in my opinion, Please note! The audio quality has always been the uppermost importance when i have purchased records over the years and I have always tried to seek out the earliest stampers that, in my personal opinion makes all the difference for the best audio quality! Please note, I heard some light/ minor, static/ticks crackle in very quiet isolated places only during the play of this vinyl. Importantly I heard no loud clicks or pops! Absolutely mind blowing and I mean mind blowing audio quality, this almost shook my house down I played this so loud! I must emphisise that this vinyl has obviously been played but not over played in my opinion. Even between tracks or almost silent places, any surface noise or static ticks are isolated and minimal only, and nothing consistant throughout the audio. In my opinion nothing too bad that spoilt the overall awesome audio effect. This audio will blow you away! I would class myself as highly critacle! This has been played on a top system at very loud volume and is awesome! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!! Audio is graded at the top! Stunning audio seperation throughout and vibrancy only heard like this on the earliest pressings! I would grade the audio at least excellent to Excellent plus for the most part, on my systems!
Please note! This has been stored in a case for at least 35 years! ,and would benefit from a constant clean before each play to reduce any static crackle or ticks that may be heard during some quiet isolated parts! from my experiance build up of dirt and dust trapped in the grooves over the years cause this and subsequent cleaning does greatly improve the audio quality!!
Please note! I always make this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated static,crackle/click/ticks (not) consistant throughout the audio! Although i have given my honest opinion, this is a genuine 42 year old vinyl (not a reissue) that would have originally been played on a 42 year old system!
The labels
These are the original Plum\red Atlantic labels! (only 1st press) feature ''Under licence...'' across the labels, above the white stripe and feature Peter Grant credits on both sides (only 1st press! ''Made in Gt Britain'' featured (only UK press) credits for 'Warner Bros' Minimal spidering only can be seen when angled to the light. This has been played, but definately not overplayed in my opinion) little if no spindleware (The hole is perfetly round) You can still even see the plastic in the spindle hole unbeleivable to find like this!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original poly lined atlantic sleeve with no splits or tares just light creasing\staining with age! becoming very fragile and is now stored seperately from the vinyl!
The Cover
This is the original 1st press E.J.Day & co printed gatefold cover with fully functioning wheel ! Very Very hard to find originals in this condition! Please note! I have often seen these covers swapped for later covers that were made in Germany! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL UK printed features the correct catalogue number on the spine! (only 1st press covers) This is strong and straight as it should be without any splits or tares and no nasty names written also the wheel is fully functional! There is some minor light yellowing with age only around the edges only and some laminate creases at the front from a manufactureing fault (often seen on these early covers) and hardly any other real creases to talk of, just minor laminate crease lines at the rear only (see photos)! Hard to find like this after nearly 42 years old! I would grade this cover at least excellent if not better!
Shipment and package and recorded postage for Italy, overseas costs will be calculated at the end of the auction.
Italy special delivery can be arranged at extra cost if requested.
I will package this record in between oversized cardboard to protect the corners of the sleeve as I believe record envelopes do not protect the corners in the post and this record is too good to take chances, if you have ever seen records pushed into post bags by the post office you’ll know what I mean.
Many thanks for looking and good luck.
