LED ZEPPELIN - IV/FOUR SYMBOLS ORIG Atlantic LP 2401012 (UK, 1971)
Happy to present what many see as the very 1st UK press of probably one of the greatest and most influential rock albums of all time - ZEP 4!!
See the photos of the labels for the 1st plum variant before the stickered versions and the next press which placed the ‘Led Zeppelin’ above the white line. This also states the ‘Executive Producer Peter Grant’ credit.
The gatefold sleeve is in solid condition with the following imperfections : slightly squashed spine with a few rubs, slight (not heavy) rippling to the front, moderate edge wear to top and bottom, moderate not heavy corner wear, small dent to the rear and a little feathering. No splits, writing or tears and deserving of a true VG+ (Very Good Plus).
The first press labels are in fine condition showing no writing, stickers, residue, tears or other damage with also hardly any spindle trails.
Visually, the vinyl is approaching a full EX, maybe EX- (Excellent Minus) with very little in the way of cosmetic marking except two thin hairlines. Look closer and there is the smallest of scratches on ‘Black Dog’ which unfortunately causes a quick skip half way through. There is also a little surface crackle between tracks and occasionally in the quiet moments. Other than that it plays very well with no snap, pops, clicks and little loss of clarity with no distortion.
Flapped inner is VG (Very Good) with a 3-inch split to the bottom edge and an established crease to the lyric side.
Stamped matrices are A3 // B3 with the ‘Porky’ and ‘Pecko Duck’ etchings. Low start no reserve for this genuine UK 1st press.
