LED ZEPPELIN

 "IV"

ON OFFER A ULTRA RARITY FROM LED ZEPPELIN FOR WHICH I HAVEN'T FOUND ANY REFERENCES. I WILL TRY TO EXPLAIN THE RARETY OF THIS COPY.

IT IS A MEGA RARE TRANSITIONAL PRESSING WHICH I BELIEVE FROM 1972 AS IT HAS DOUBLE K50008 - 2401012 MATRIX WITH PORKY PECKO ENDINGS IN THE GREEN AND WHITE ATLANTIC LABELS BUT WITH THE MISSPRINT MISTY MOUNTAIN TOP ON THE LABEL UNIQUE TO THIS COPY AS ALL THE ONES I HAVE SEEN ARE CREDITED MISTY MOUNTAIN TOP.

ADDITIONALLY THE SLEEVE HAS the new 'K50008' catalogue number on a sticker affixed to the rear of the gatefold sleeve WHICH WAS ONLY FOUND ON TRANSITIONAL COPIES WITH THE double matrix but in the RED AND PLUM LABEL.

PLEASE DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE RARITY OF THIS LP AS IT IS THE ONLY COPY I HAVE SEEN WITH THESE CHARACTERISTICS. MY GUESS IS THAT THIS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TRANSITIONAL COPIES FROM THE RED PLUM TO THE GREEN ORANGE LABEL AND THEY NOTICED THE MISTY MOUNTAIN MISSPRINT ON THE NEW LABELS AND QUICKLY REPLACED THEM WITH NEW LABELS.

Recorded in 1971 - ATLANTIC K50008

The vinyl is visually in excellent condition. Please see below a description of grades and note that this vinyl is 53 years old that has been played and will not transform into anything different to the condition stated.

The orange and green labels with the miscredit title MISTY MOUNTAIN TOP (NOT HOP) are in near mint minus condition.

The inner lyric sleeve was repaired from the inside and has sello tape residue.

The gatefold sleeve is in very good condition only with some stickers in the front and the rare 'K50008' catalogue number on a sticker affixed to the rear.

The spine is complete but feathered with edge wear.

Withe regards to Porky, George Peckham aka Porky or Pecko Duck is a lacquer-cutting and mastering engineer and has an illustrious career that includes work on the BEATLES, GENESIS AND LED ZEPPELIN catalogue amongst others. He usually leaves his nickname or a message on the etching of the LP. He has well helped on the engineering aspects and done special cuts for artistes like JOHN LENNON - AC DC – WINGS – JETHRO TULL – FREE – WHO – TEN YEARS AFTER – TRAFFIC - YES or KING CRIMSON.

PLEASE VISIT MY OTHER ITEMS AS I REGULARLY LIST RARE ORIGINAL LPs FROM JIMI HENDRIX, LED ZEPPELIN, LOVE, WHO, CREAM, PINK FLOYD, BOWIE, ETC... AS WELL AS INDIE CDs FROM THE LAST DECADE.

Visually-graded vinyl: A visual grading will identify physical flaws (such as scratches) and can help determine whether a record has been cared-for properly. A visual grading will not identify noise or crackle caused by non-visible sources. Most of the records I sell are between thirty and sixty years old and so it is likely that there may be some background noise even if they look perfect.

Guide to grades used
Mint
Cover - Looks new - no marks, wear or damage
Disc - Looks unplayed - no marks visible

Near Mint
Cover - Looks virtually new with signs of handling- Minor wear creases but no marks or damage. Light sleeves may show slight discoloration due to age.
Disc - May have minor scuffs &/or hairline scratches caused by moving record in & out of paper sleeve

Excellent
Cover - Slight signs of wear on edges/spine, corners or ring wear. No damage caused by sticker removal/residue.
Disc- The record has been played and has superficial marks &/or hairline scratches and paper scuffs.

Very good
Cover - Moderate edge/spine or ring wear. Corners may be a little blunt. Opening edge may show feathering caused by removal of record. Visible creases or laminate lift. Localised sticker removal damage.
Disc - The record has been played frequently and has noticeable surface marks, occasional light scratches and paper scuffs.

Good
Cover - Heavy ring or edge/spine wear. Corners noticeable bashed. Heavy creases. Considerable laminate/surface damage.
Disc - The record looks very well played and the sound quality has probably deteriorated noticeably. A lot of surface marks/scratches. Usually used as collection filler

I am not a dealer but an amateur collector selling duplicated items or records that I no longer want to keep (mostly due to space). Unless indicated in the listing the records have been only visually inspected.

To show your record has arrived safely and you are happy, please leave feedback and I will reciprocate.

I offer reduced postage rates for combined multiple purchases. To protect the environment I recycle packing materials. Usually I post items on Thursdays.
