Description
Some months ago, Record Collector magazine published a guide on how to identify a first pressing of this album. My two copies matched everything exactly, apart from the position of the matrix numbers in the dead wax. I wrote to them for further information, and the then editor, Ian Shirley, was kind enough to send me a note, see Pics. 6 and 7. Quote, " John, this (my description) is correct. The arrows in the feature were drawn by our design team, and thus in the wrong place! Ian." The magazine failed to print a correction, so there may be some collectors out there looking in vain for a first pressing, as described in Record Collector. Please note, the card is not included in the sale.
The sleeve is in EX condition. It is clean, shiny, and uncreased. The rotating wheel turns smoothly. there is very minor corner rubbing to the edges. The spine is complete, and the inner gatefold is also EX.
The vinyl is EX-. Actually, 99% plays EX, with barely a crackle in the silences. But Immigrant Song has a surface mark. This is audible before the song starts, but then is only audible for about three revolutions, in the middle of the song. There are no further problems with the vinyl, and the labels are clean.
