Led Zeppelin’s ‘Tour De Force’ sixth album from 1975 on the Swan Song label, catalogue number SSK 89400. Matrices are A1 B5 C1 D1. A great example of this UK FIRST PRESSING !! So much more powerful than the later pressings and reissues from different parts of the globe. The audio reproduction of this first UK pressing really is FANTASTIC !! From the opening track, the Bo Diddleyesque ‘Custard Pie’, to the sledgehammer blues of ‘In My Time Of Dying’, this is Zeppelin’s heaviest album and this first pressing really packs a PUNCH !! It plays with staggering power and clarity ! The exquisite Eastern mysticism of ‘Kashmir’, the stomping Disco Funk of ‘Trampled Under Foot’, it all just comes shuddering out of the speakers at you !! But its not all hard and heavy. ‘Bron-Yr-Aur’, which was originally recorded in 1970 and intended for Zep III, is a beautifully reflective acoustic piece that perfectly showcases the bands multifaceted talents. The same could be said for gorgeously melodic ‘Down By The Seaside’. The outside recording of ‘Black Country Woman’ (in Mick Jagger’s back garden at Stargroves) is sensational – close your eyes and you’re right there with them !! But what this album really does is ROCK ! ‘The Wanton Song’, ‘Ten Years Gone’, ‘The Rover’, are all classic Zeppelin at their absolute best. It would be true to say I think, that this was the last ‘GREAT’ Zeppelin album and contains such wonderful music as only they could make. The vinyls are in EXCELLENT CONDITION. The beautiful Swan Song labels have NO WARNER LOGO’s and and FEW SPINDLE MARKS. The discs have the ‘dipped’ centers unlike later pressings and fit snugly over the spindle. Side two label does have some air bubbles. As I said, the audio reproduction is fabulous. There is NO DISTORTION anywhere on this record and the audio quality really is as good as the day it was pressed !! Only some very slight crackle in the quietest parts and some light clicks here and there. I would have to grade the vinyl as easily EXCELLENT. The box type Kings Road, Culderstead sleeve is still a box. It has some wear to the top opening edge, corners and the bottom. It has no tears, rips or other defacement. I would grade this as EX-. The inner sleeves are in perfect order, with no tears or splits or any marks. All in all, a great example of this wonderful album.
