Led Zeppelin : Presence A1 / B1
This genuine first A1/B1 pressing is in immaculate condition and I have never seen better. The vinyl is pristine and the gatefold and inner are in superb condition also. Released on the Swan Song label the gatefold is embossed as per the first pressings. The previous owner assured me that it has only been played once and judging by the lack of spindle wear and the beautiful sheen on the vinyl I have no reason to doubt him.

Visual grading
This vinyl is 'as new'. It is visually stunning and looks as if it was pressed yesterday. It has an immaculate glossy sheen with a jet black mirror like surface like you wouldn't believe and there are no hairlines or scratches. It would be impossible to find a more impressive A1/B1 pressing that is now over 40 years old. There is no spindle wear and I would not be surprised if it had never been played and even the run out grooves are spotlessly clean. An archive museum piece for certain.
Play grading
S1 has no lead in static so you're already confident it is going to play well and 'Achilles Last Stand' does not disappoint! It plays with a power, clarity and depth that is second to none and even the fade out has no 'background'. The audio is absolutely stunning and I am happy to grade it as Mint- and the minus is only used as it isn't sealed. 'For Your Life' plays in exactly the same way with audio of the highest standard imaginable. The music plays so clearly and as with any Led Zepp track the drums and bass are so high in the mix and play with astounding power. 'Royal Orleans' ends the side with no interference once again. Stunning! This track does play with a certain 'tinny distortion' type sound which is prevalent on all pressings I find. There are no clicks, pops or crackle anywhere on this side and the clarity is equal to that of a high quality vinyl pressed only yesterday.
S2 again has no lead in static and the intro on 'Nobody's Fault But Mine' is quite simply the best I have ever heard. There is no 'background' whatsoever and the remainder is hugely impressive also. A couple of mega faint dust ticks only this is audio that is as close to perfect as is possible. Again the bass is just stunning and yes no clicks or pops etc, you could not improve upon this 'high end' audio. 'Candy Store Rock' and 'Hots On For Nowhere' play with faultless audio and again deserve a Mint- grading without doubt. 'Tea For One' ends the side with, you guessed it, immaculate quality. There are so many quiet sections and yet they all play with the same stunning clarity and definition. There is perhaps a minor amount of distortion on the top level but was only obvious with the volume turned up loud and is common on this album anyway. You will not find this track playing with such clear audio anywhere, I am confident in saying that. A masterpiece.
In summary I have no hesitation in classifying this as an archive, final upgrade first pressing. Perhaps unplayed prior to my play testing there is complete silence between tracks and has no 'background' at all, no clicks, pops, static or crackle. A genuine rarity found in this condition and visually stunning also.
Gatefold cover
The gatefold is in pristine condition and is easily the cleanest I have ever seen. What denotes it as a first press cover is the embossed band name and album title on the front cover and the Swan Song 'Apollo' logo on the back. The edges and wide spine are in perfect condition, there is no corner wear and the opening edge has no handling wear either. The front cover is incredibly clean with only a minimal amount of very light fading on a couple of very small areas, have to look very closely to see it though! To all intents and purposes this is a Mint cover and is definitely has the wow factor! The back cover is stunning as is the inside of the gatefold. It would be impossible to find a better 'first press' cover, it is a superb example in immaculate condition.
Inner sleeve
This has the rough textured feel and is made of thicker paper that only the first pressings had. It has no splits or marks and only a couple of very small creases. On one side there is a stain type mark running down the flipbacks but I am sure this is caused by the glue that holds them together so is no doubt common on these inners.
The labels
They are both like new with no spindle wear and are super clean with no marking or writing. I have never seen cleaner labels on a 40+ year old vinyl and the matrix numbers stand proud are 100% legible.
