Led Zeppelin : Presence A2 / B1 1st Press

This first pressing plays to the highest standard possible with no interference.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is stunning and it is obvious this vinyl has only been played a handful of times at most and then stored away...carefully.  The vinyl itself is visually stunning and has been so well looked after over the last 48 years.  I mean even the very quiet 'Tea For One' plays with stunning precision.  A FINAL UPGRADE in every way.

That applies to the embossed cover also and is rarely found as clean as this today.  It isn't laminated of course so is hard to keep in decent condition because of its colour but the previous owner has done a fine job!  The paper inner is also in great condition with minimal wear.  A stunning 'package' overall.

This first pressing has Made In UK on the labels and the band name / title on the front cover and the Apollo logo on the back are embossed.  The text on the spine is a darker black also.

Visual description

This vinyl is in superb condition and still has an immaculate jet-black glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a handful of ultra faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out.  The grooves are so clean and there is no mottling either.  The run out grooves are very clean and the Swan Song labels are unmarked with only very minimal spindle wear.

Play grading

The run in on S1 has no static etc and then the quiet build up on 'Achilles Last Stand' plays with perfect clarity as does the rest of the intro.  Plant's opening vocal section is just as clean and it proceeds in the same way with no ticks, clicks, pops or static.  Every section is powerful and dynamic with Bonham's driving percussion at the forefront.  Page's solo during the mid instrumental for once has no distortion and that applies to the entire track.  Every section is 'as new' and the guitar fade out has not one dust tick.  A superb Mint start to this often underrated album.

'For Your Life' plays with great definition and power from start to finish without any interference.  Jones showing how important he is to Led Zepp with that deep rich bass sound and the clarity here is flawless, not one single tick let alone anything more.  There is none of that 'tinny' distorted sound that you often get with this track and Mint is again deserved.

'Royal Orleans' plays as well as can be expected.  This final track does have a kind of 'tinny' sound but that is more due to how it was recorded / produced / manufactured so it wouldn't be fair to downgrade it.  In saying that the audio quality is still very impressive and there is zero interference.  A Mint- grade is fair.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Page's intro on 'Nobody's Fault But Mine' plays with stunning quality with only a couple of barely audible dust ticks and as Bonham and Jones join there is no drop in quality.  The opening vocal is equal to that and the first 'silence' is 100% silent.  From then on it plays with a sonic quality that could not be any stronger.  The instrumental featuring the best harmonica work you are every likely to hear (!) is so strong and clear and Page's solo towards the end is stunning.  Another Mint track in every way.

The relatively quiet intro on 'Candy Store Rock' has no background and the opening vocal is just as clean.  It continues to play with impeccable quality and I cannot find fault.  Playing as per an unplayed track and once more the depth and resonance of the audio is top class.  Mint

'Hots On For Nowhere' plays in the same with nothing to detract from the audio.  As per the previous track this is also 'busy' and yet the clarity of sound is very clear and there is no distortion on the top end.  Mint

The opening section on 'Tea For One' has no intrusion and the first long quiet section plays with incredible clarity and depth, it could not play any better.  Plant's opening vocal is on the same level and it continues in the same exact way with a rare clarity - it's not often you find this track playing with such precision.  The first high octane passage is stunning and the long quiet instrumental section with Page leading it has no intrusion aside from one barely audible tick and I do mean barely audible!  I love Bonham's laid back approach on this track and you can see why this track was regarded as a follow up to Since I've Been Loving You.  The next vocal is faultless and the remainder is just as good.  This is easily one of the finest versions of this classic that I have ever listened to, the depth and warmth of the audio is STUNNING!  I'm still going to grade it as Mint - it is the definitive version in my view.  Wow what a finish!

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The embossed cover is in superb condition and has remained so 'white' over the last 48 years.  It is so prone to wear / discolouration but this one has no obvious marking at all, it is stunning!  The edges and spine are so clean and the corners have barely any wear either.  Only the bottom left corner of the back cover has a minor rub and that is right on the bottom edge, hardly worth a mention.  The opening edge has no handling wear and both the front and back cover are super clean also.  A hint of fading by the right edge on the front?  Perhaps but so so minor.  The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and I have no hesitation in grading this cover as Near Mint, it's a fine example of its kind.

The original paper inner has no side splits and barely any creasing.  The only 'marking' it has is down each side which is unavoidable anyway as it is the glue showing through which holds it together.  A very impressive example.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
